I haven't read any of the Harry Potter books, but I have seen all of the movies, and I like every single one of them. I just cant get enough of them. I have alot of friends that have read the books and they said that the books are so much better than the movie, than you cant even compare them. For me, they're just too long and I get bored when I read for a long time.

I have just read the first chapter "Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone" and after that i watched the film edition of it.Compared to the book, the film removed some of the segments that the director think is neglectable.I can understand they have to do like that since the book is so detailed about every character's thinking activities.and the thinking activities are just the most wonderful part of the story. So undoubtedly most of us who have both read the books and watched the films will think the books are better.

if i have enough time and want to know about deeply,i will choose reading as my style, because this style can provide me with more space to imagine about what are described in the books, and so many things such as mental description and so on are only can be written and understood in this style. But the movie is another way to create new ideas that the directors what to tell us,and it also an quite convenient way.

It depends upon the person's interest. In my part, the books are far way better than the movies. While reading i can make my own movie through imagination, and with the books you have all the details precise and it dismays me if the movie does not reconcile with the book.

Definitely the books. If you have only seen the movies and not read the books then you probably don't know that there is a lot of scenes and moments left out of the movies that was in the books. While the movies are great, the books allow you to really jump into the world and envision it in your own image. Even though you can see the story in the movies, you really feel like you are there in the books. Also, when it comes to certain scenes that were in both the books and the movies, the book's version is better. For example, the duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the end of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. For those who have watched the fifth movie and not read the fifth book, you need to read it or at least start reading at the part where they find out that Sirius Black was not in the Department of Mysteries as Tom fooled harry into thinking.

Definitely, the books. JK Rowling's writing is wonderful, and she weave a tale so well, that it just captures your imagination. I highly recommend to anyone who is interested to read the books. With that said, I don't mean, that I don't like the movies. I like the movies, too, but because it is a different medium, it can never completely accurately depict everything in the books. You have to take the movies as they, films based on a book, and a director's vision or interpretation of an author's work, that may or may not completely possible to put on film...all of it...with its limitations and everything.

Well, sitting down to read a book is quite boring for me. I would rather wait for it to come out in the movies. The way they put it togetheer and just being able to watch it without doing much work. I like that.

i like movies better... i don't care to read. i hate to read actually lol i just can't get into it and i can't keep my focus while i am reading... so i would always wanted to watch a movie or reading a book any day.. watching a movie instead of reading the book. I don't mind when someone else reads to me though but that never really happens lol but if it would.. i guess i could stand it then but i would still prefer to watch the movie for it

i would say its better if you have both. on my part i would read the book first and then watch the movie. coz in the book it is more precise than the movie. it amazed me when the one that i imagined when i was reading, it is really the same when i watched the movie.

from the book, we know more; from the movie, we see more?

The books, definitely. The books are so much richer, there's more chance for character development, interaction, plot twists, and little details that just don't make it into the movies. There was so much wonderful stuff left out of the movie version of Order of the Phoenix, everyone should read the book. I love the movies, but the books are by far my favorite way to experience the world of Harry Potter!
