Cars like what they used to be?

I have a question, with the high demand for fuel efficient cars has progress been made toward it? I drive a 94' Ford Aspire, and I get 36 mpg in town. I had a 88 Cavalier that got 30 mpg in town. All the cars I see on television today are advertise 22-26mpg and that is highway. Now I know my cars are small, but i have not seen an ad for any car lately that gets over 30 mpg in the city, and if there ever is the slightest mention it is for a hybrid. Tell me why this is.

I hear ya. It seems like the more expensive gas is the less gas mileage the cars become. Don't ask me why. I would think they would learn to make more efficient ones. I seriously sometimes think they may be purposely ripping people off. When is it ever going to end? I miss my geo storm. I would get another car like that because it ran about 30MPG
