Why is it considered very wise and intelligent not to believe in anything, be skeptical about everything and foolish to believe in something ? How would you rate yourself to be then, intelligent or foolish? Be honest

Intelligent people ask questions and live by the answers they get out of those. They have questioned some age old beliefs and customs and have proved many to be wrong. Hence, it's assumed that intelligent people are supposed to question everything before conforming. they are skeptical about things. Me personally, would like to see myself as a truly intelligent person. But I am not. Sometimes I lack even common sense, that's stupid. I lack practical knowledge as well. So I am somewhere in between, may be more on the foolish side.

Intelligence is good judgment of what is right and what is wrong and it is decided by proper analysis and mental reasoning power. To believe is to be convinced without any reason. Two sides- may or may not be,truth or false, right or wrong comes to mind that creates doubt.Say for example a gentleman said something against a man-X and you believed that Mr.X is a bad man because a gentleman said so.There may be reasons of jealousy, selfishness,or any other causes behind saying so by that gentleman. It may also be true or false.Once in my life, a so called gentleman told and spread a rumor against me only for one reason that I did not support his idea.
