The site is a scam!
They have sent me emails twice saying they are looking for home writers and typists.
Did some research on them and found a number of links that say it is actually a scam for sure, I can't find the exact detailed link that I found previously but this is someone's personal experience on this blog http://www.wealth-city.com/blog/internet-marketing/freelance-home-writers-scam/
and I know one other person who has experienced the same and has had to cancel her debit card and request a new one from her bank as they keep taking money out of her account, simply DELETE the emails they send!

Hi. Thank you for informing me. I have read the link you gave me but they were taking about Freelance Home Writers.com and not freelancewriters.info. Could it really be a scam?

jhellie,
I was accepted to write for them 18 weeks ago and haven't received any assignments. I've heard good things about them (and bad too) but I don't think I'll ever get the chance to find out if it's a good experience since they haven't responded to my emails in months. Btw, they promise work in 48hrs to 4 weeks. I'd say 18 weeks is a little outside of that range.
Also, there's no free trial involved, and if they use Paypal I don't think they can remove funds from your account.
