http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,452524,00.html Benjamin Emmanuel (Rahm Emmanuel's father, and former Irgun member) said in an interview with an Israeli newspaper, "Obviously, he will influence the president to be pro-Israel. Why wouldn't he? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House." I applaud Rahm Emmanuel for apologizing for his father's comments to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, but I don't quite understand his apology. "From the fullness of my heart, I personally apologize on behalf of my family and me. These are not the values upon which I was raised of those of my family." Anyone care to explain? What values was he raised on regarding Arabs?

His father was a part of what some considered a zionist movement. He himself is Israeli and his family has strong ties to Israel and various militant movements there.

I know. That's why I am confused. Especially because it seems he was apologizing for his father... but if his apology was true, shouldn't his father be apologizing too?

I don't think his father is living, i could be wrong. *shrug, either way, I don't feel he should have to apologize for something he didn't do himslef.

His father is still living... he made the statement last week. If he hadn't apologized there would be a lot of angry Arabs out there... he probably apologized for national security reasons... lol
