Benjamin Emmanuel (Rahm Emmanuel's father, and former Irgun member) said in an interview with an Israeli newspaper, "Obviously, he will influence the president to be pro-Israel. Why wouldn't he? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House."
I applaud Rahm Emmanuel for apologizing for his father's comments to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, but I don't quite understand his apology. "From the fullness of my heart, I personally apologize on behalf of my family and me. These are not the values upon which I was raised of those of my family." Anyone care to explain? What values was he raised on regarding Arabs?

I know. That's why I am confused. Especially because it seems he was apologizing for his father... but if his apology was true, shouldn't his father be apologizing too?

His father is still living... he made the statement last week. If he hadn't apologized there would be a lot of angry Arabs out there... he probably apologized for national security reasons... lol
