I am starting to build my freelance writing career online and I just want to have an idea on the standard rate for SEO writing or any other online writing gigs?
There are clients who pay like $2 per 500-word article, is this fair?
I read in a forum which says that there are those who pay as much as $25 for the same 500-word article.

That's a real abuse with one's talent! Very UNFAIR!
I am a writer and got fair compensation with freelance jobs, both online and offline. My offline gigs often give me better pay with $20 - $30 per article but with online, I got the $5 up to $20 rate per article. I also got regular gig which requires me 2-3 hours a day, 5 days in a week and earn $200/month. The best one I got, 6 hours a day, 5 days a week for $400. Monthly rates are better for me since I am assured of regular jobs. Although these opportunities does come rarely.

Yeah, that much! You're right if it's $25, all quality articles must be produced. You have to research that, I just read it somewhere and let me feel bad after the small rate I am getting from the writing gig I joined.
