Apparently that is supposed to be the day that the world will end ....just hype?Well the mayans predicted this,so did naustradamus and many more intelligent peoples! The earth is going to do a wobble which only happens once every 26,000 years supposedly! This doesn't mean we are all going to die necessarily, but the world will dramastically change, maybe we will go back to the ice age,or live as the amish do? Google it if you don't believe me,there are some facinating vid's on youtube about this particular subject...a little scary i'll admit, but i have to say i am intregued ~Let me know what you think of all this...do you believe it?These things have been predicted before,so how is this different?

It's not. Doomsday predictions have been with us since the beginning of time, irony? This one is a little more disconcerting because of how long it's been around. The Mayans weren't exactly kicking this number around in 2001, it's been looming out there for centuries. From what I read (and I admit ignorance), the Mayans believed in cycles of history. Each cycle ending producing the following cycle. Whether they end with cataclysm, I'm not sure. But this cycle is supposed to be the last cycle in the series. And come 2012 we are to see the world end as we know it. To precede this will be an immense build-up of knowledge in the world. We will see a light-speed transition in our awareness (internet?) that will lead into this ultimate ending. As for what will happen, I have no clue. I'm not even sure if I believe that the world will end come the Winter Solstice 2012 (also interesting they chose tha particular day, longest night of the year). But, there is a little queasiness as we approach it. I don't think there is much we can do about it. However, if it gives any of us impetus to live better lives, then go for it.

I don't believe it at all. Every year people shout out things like this. Never something happened. I think it's all a big hype. Although if Nostradamus predicted it then it's a little scary. However I never read about him predicting it. Did you also look at: http://www.faqs.org/faqs/nostradamus Great website!
