Why does cat food cost so much?

Seems like every time I go to the store cat food keeps increasing in price. I don't want to forgo the food I buy because I know it is better for them, but I am going into the poor house. Has anyone else noticed this increase?

Like everything else the catfood seems to have gone up as well! My cat loves the Temptation treats which he gets several times a day, but now they are $1.74 a bag. Last year at this time they were $1.34! What a jump!

Where do you buy them at? Petsmart always seem to have them on sale for around $1.20.

I usually buy them from Wal-Mart, but I will definitely check out Petsmart! Thanks!
