Typing is hard with a splint on your finger

This is day two with the splint making typing and everything else difficult. My finger isn't broken but I did tear the nail really bad. Shilo was acting up and I went to grab her and did it wrong and the finger nail on my middle finger (go figure) split and bent back way past the quick halfway to the cuticle. I put the splint on to protect it fromm reinjury or from ripping it off. The nail is all purple, and swollen. It was bleeding when it first happened. Hurt like no one's business. Anybody ever try to type with an injury to the finger?

Yes, I have tried to tyope with a bad finger hand before. It is not easy at all. If it is all purple and swollen still. You may need to go to the doctors to have a small hole drille din your nail to let the pressure out. It will help with swellinga nd feel better. I have had it done before. You also will heal faster.

I have no insurance and the swelling is going down some on its own. It is purple cause it is bruised lol. It hurt bad when it happened it is getting better though.

It hurt like mad!! Still is tender but atleast the splint is protecting it from bumps and stuff. Tried to type without the splint on and that didn't take long before I put it back on!! I have been working on some ceramics an working with molds isn't easy either with an injury. lol.

I know that feeling. Never had a torn nail, but I did get an infection in my finger once and that caused problems typing. Funny that you injured your middle finger. HAHA I once had a horse bite the middle finger on my left hand, right down to the bone. I had to wear a bandage for about a week. I coudln't write. My teacher was afraid of my mother, so he didn't give me ANY homework. :)

When I was working nights on a busy nursing unit I pulled up a side rail of a bed. Well when I went to snap it up I had my thumb in the way and OHG I tore off my nail vertically. I had to have it cut off the rest of the way in the ER and I had to have it washed out very well because of all the hospital germs. I wore a brace on it for days. I do not know why fingers and toes have to throb so badly.

OUCH!!!! My finger is doing better I was able to cut away the broken nail the other day. It still has a jagged edge to one part of it that I can't cut so I have a regular bandaide over it cause it catches on everything.

I am glad it is healing well. Mine healed well except my nail continues to break vertically all the time. I have to keep all of them short or keep fake nails on them.

Ouch! That sounds like it would really hurt. I have broken a nail before, but I don't think I have ever done it quite as badly as what you have just described. I am constantly hurting myself, so I quite often have issues with my fingers hurting. Just a few days ago I grabbed the rack of the oven with a potholder, but I was not holding onto it very well and I grabbed it with a finger too. I put some burn cream on it and a bandage. It is hard to type with a bandage on I can imagine how hard it would be with a splint.

Hey sweet~Oh, I know that hurt alot! I'm sure Shilo didn't mean to hurt her mom! She's just a very big baby and doesn't realize her own strength! Yeah, I know how hard it is to type when you're used to using all your fingers! It makes everything so much more difficult! And right before you have to make your Thanksgiving dinner! I hope it gets better real quick! I have had that happen to me and it is really painful. Unfortunately, it will take awhile to get better and you will probably lose the nail. But, it will grow back and be fine. It's just until it heals it is going to hurt for awhile. Take care of yourself and I hope the pain gets lesser soon!

I can't remember having my nails or fingers injured. Typing I think would be very difficult if I have my fingers injured. I doubt if I can type smoothly with injury. Might just use one hand and make my injured fingers rest.
