What would you be doing 10 years ago on this night?

I was just sitting here thinking about how unbearably bored I am. The kids are all in bed, hubby is not home from work yet, there's not much going on in the online world, and I'm sitting here playing with the strings on my pajama pants... what a way to spend a Friday night.
So I began thinking about how 10 years ago on a Friday night I would have been so super busy. I would have been working that day, and after work I'd have to pick up my paycheck (I worked through a temp agency at that point) then go get my smokes and whatever else. Then I'd get home, and right about this time I'd be getting my son to bed, then showering and doing my hair and make up. In about an hour from now I'd be headed to a club where I'd spend the night dancing and sweating my butt off. The remainder of the night would depend on how things went at the club, sometimes I'd go home from there, or sometimes I'd go out for breakfast.... and sometimes on a rare occasion I may have gone elsewhere, lol.
All of my days were busy back then. I was working and raising a son alone, I had plenty of boyfriends and dates and friends that I'd spend a lot of time visiting.
Now I don't work, I raise my 5 kids, and I wait for hubby to come home. I don't see my friends much, I grew apart from most of them. I talk to you all on Mylot more often than I talk to any of my friends.
So what was your life like 10 years ago? What would you be doing on a Friday night around 9pm? Would your night just be ending, or just be starting?
Isn't it amazing how much a decade changes things?

This time ten years ago on a Friday night I would have been out getting extremely drunk! I would never be found in on a Friday or a Saturday night even though I was in debt up to my eyeballs, I would always find the money to go out and I would always get drinks bought me all night anyway! What I do on a Friday night now is a world and a half away from how I used to be, sometimes I cannot believe that I am the same person.

Legal age is 18 here, I hit the drink scene when I was 19 and stopped when I was about 26!

I probably won't have another drink until New Years. Hubby drinks even less than me. I guess he did it for too long. He still has a 6 pack in the fridge from September when our friend was visiting.

I wasn't into drinking yet 10 years ago, but I was not of legal age to drink yet. Legal age here is 21, but I got into drinking when I was about 20, it didn't last long luckily.

Well 10 years ago I would have been 17. So I still would have been living at home. I guess on a friday night I probably would have gone out somewhere with my friends. There isn't a lot to do around here so we probably would have just hung out somewhere. I had a high school boyfriend then so I'm sure he would have been in with the group of us.

I would have been 18 at that time, still living at home as well, but the clubs allow you in at 18, so that's what I was doing. I even got into a few clubs at 17. I dropped out of school and was working and doing other things at that age. I wasn't a very good girl during those years, lol.

I did that too, but not on a clubbing night. 10 years ago I would be clubbing 5 nights a week. I was also going to all the baseball games, but being winter there was no baseball, so I'd end up being with my friends when I wasn't at work.

10 years ago tonight I would probably have been computing. My husband had retired early the year before and we came back home to our state and home we had left behind. He took off 6 years and then decided to go back to work. We spent lots of time on the computers, side by side in our computer room, so I'm sure that's where I was! Either that or we might have been having dinner at our house with our friends, or at their house with them - probably working on computers there, also.

I didn't even own a computer 10 years ago, and I had no desire to have one. I wouldn't have had the time for it anyways, and that's the saddest part, because today I can't see myself without my computer. This is what I spend the majority of my time doing.
I got my first computer about 8 years ago because my mother gave me her old one. It wasn't very good, but I didn't use it for much. Mostly I went into chat rooms and then I began talking to my husband on IM. We didn't meet on the computer, but we talked to each other a lot on it. I trashed that computer once I moved in with him... his made mine look ridiculous. He had cable while I had dial up. I don't even think my hard drive was 1 gig, I could only hold 10 songs on it, while he had thousands.

Ten years ago on a Friday night, I would have been out to dinner. At the time I was not married, but my then to be husband and I always went out to dinner on Friday nights. How things have changed, we hardly go out to dinner much these days. I always looked forward to those Friday nights, each week we would go to a different restaurant.
This past Friday night, I was on the computer probably on Mylot, and my husband was not at home, he had a late appointment and did not get home until ten thirty.

10 years ago would be 1998, Saturday night... I would be out with my friends clubbing in Kuala Lumpur. At this hour we would normally just left the club after hopping around from one club to another and we would be looking for some food as all the jumping and shouting made us really hungry.
It was not difficult to find food at this hour as there were many stalls that were open on 24 hour basis and normally we would just go there for some light snack and drinks and we would be chatting away until the sun comes out.
We would only leave for home a few hours later and once home we would just go to sleep and wake up again later in the afternoon for lunch and most of the time, we would just skip lunch and sleep on till late evening...
Those were the crazy times of my life and now when I looked back, I actually wasted lots of money back then and did not gain much things. Even those friends are no longer around now....
Cheers!
