i think my dog has an abscest

i think my dog rollie has an abscest on the side of his face just down from his ear. i put tea tree skin cream on it to help with the itching. i can't afford to take him to the vet right now and i'm worried it might get worse. a long time ago my cat had one on his side and with out the treatment of the vet i don't think he would have made it. please help

The BEST thing would be to get him seen by a vet as abcessess can turn very toxic and I have seen animals die from them. most will not heal without antibioticx tablets and most need surgical drainage.Phone all your local vets and see if they ar eable to run and account or put you onto any aniomal charities in your area.

i only just noticed it last night when i was brushing him. he is a shitzu, and it was hard to see what exactly it was. thanks for your input.

i had someone look at it and it appears to be a self inflicted scratch caused by him scratching his ears. its that time of year for ear infections.

Put castor oil on a wash cloth, blow on it with a hair dryer so it's warm, press it to the abcess. Tea tree oil is good as well as an antiseptic to help keep it clean.

Also, get some kind of otc anti-biotic pain relief cream.

did you call the vet? please have him seen.See who will treat him for little or no fees.I'am sure animal friends or rescue/or in dog and cat shelters will or can help you.Please have it addressed immediately.
