Where Angels and Wolves Fear To Tread

I did something brave, or which I considered brave yesterday and I am quite chuffed at myself for being so strong, the risk factor wasn't that high admittedly but the fact that I actually drove to the area where I used to live, where I lived with my ex made me feel happy!
I went to spend a day with a wonderful friend who I met at college, I haven't seen her since I escaped my ex and that was last October, well over a year! We still text'd each other but it wasn't the same, she was missing me and I was missing her, so yesterday I finally agreed to drive over to see her
The drive wasn't a long one, although the traffic was busy and I did get a few butterflies in my stomach when I saw the road leading off to where I used to live!
It was great catching up and we went to see a film together, went for a meal afterwards and I went back to see her family afterwards and was warmly welcomed, I didn't leave till 10pm last night!
I promised her I wouldn't leave it so long next time and I was happy that I had conquered my fear of going back to my old haunt!
Is there a place that holds bad memories for you and have you ever had the courage to go back or have you vowed never to set foot in the place again for fear of bumping into someone you hate or fear?

Hi ya wolfie34
Well done, I am sure it couldn't have been easy for you. I know better than most what it feels like but you know something that your friend could also come and visit you too! Now you have done it, it won't feel so bad the next time and it will get easier. I have only been back there twice in the two years it has been for me but it is a good 5 hours drive from here so that is probably why I haven't been more often, people can always come and visit me too.

She hasn't been driving for long my friend and has only just passed her test and got her car so hasn't been on a motorway! She even paid for me to get into the cinema as I had driven over and it had benefits I faced my fear and beat it and that boosted my confidence because I was strong enough to do it!

Congratulations, my dear wolf!! Glad you had a great time with your friend. Places are not bad actually; just the memories are. Well, the place I live in right now is actually full of bad memories for me. I tried running away from it all and was away from Mangalore (my hometown) for nearly a year. Then I decided to come back and decided to live here no matter what. Things are getting along fine and the past hardly matters anymore. You see, the past actually has no power over us. :)
Cheers and happy mylotting

Hello dear wolfie. I am so glad that you overcame your fear of meeting your ex where angels and wolves fear to tread. Yeah, there is always something in our life that spoils as well as enlightens our normal life, but so long as we can overcome it, there is nothing for us to fear. It is nice to know that you had a wonderful day yesterday. May such wonderful days follow you as always!

Hey wolfie! Nice going! I'm very proud of you! That was a very
brave thing that you did! I know how difficult it was for you
to go back there and I understand why it was. But, nevertheless
you overcame your fear and you did it anyway! Why should you
stay away from your friend? You have every right to be there!
I have been in similar circumstances like that too and I know
how it feels! But you can't let that dread of someone or
something stop you from being with someone you really care
about! And you didn't and you had a good time and that's what
is most important! And now you know that you can do it again
and nothing will stop you! Congratulations for taking a very
big step forward! And yes it was a very big step!

I don't have a fear of going to certain places. Thank god I did not have such bad experiences in relationships. I am glad that you got over it.

Yes, there are a few places that I have no desire to ever see again. Just sad memories and noone I fear but just would have a sickening feeling, if I saw them again, like a major sad feeling. Good for you to see your friend and have a wonderful time. Life has to go on! Bravo for the Wolfie!
