Is lighter more beautiful?

Awhile ago I was watching the Tyra show.. and women who were willing to go to any extent to make themselves of a lighter complexion. They said it was more physically appealing and acceptable, and one even bleached her own children every morning. What do you all think about this?

We always want what we dont have seems to be that lately . in high school i wanted blue eyes and blonde hair . i wanted to be thin and not fat . later on in life i noticed that i loved my curves and dark hair and eyes . for the most part i wanted to make a crush happy . silly things we do ! I think it is really important to feel good in own skin . i think all skin color looks nice if you ask me . but i do love a summer tan on myself

I think they are entitled to do whatever they want to their appearance, but the children do not have a say and should be allowed to remain ntheir natural color until old enough to decide on their own.

Yeah, definitely. Not to mention the possible health risks that's being imposed upon them

oh people are so funny, dark people are bleaching their skinn, pale people are laying out in the sun risking canser to make themselves darker skinned, then their are people with straight hair who curl their hair and people with curly hair straightening their hair...we are a funny lot...I don't think being lighter is more beautiful, and i certainly don't agree with the woman lightening her childrens skin, they will grow up with a complex over that, I think this is Hollywood and magazines that make people think like this..

Sure, I can see why you would think so. Although personally, I am very light skinned and I love it... I even use spf 85 and an umbrella to embrace it. Some people thing I'm odd, but I wont be the one with premature aging or skin cancer haha. As for the hair... this is coming from someone with curly hair: Curls look nice, but those with straight hair have no idea how much work it is to mantain natural curls, so they want them. Those of us who DO know, we want straight hair because it's frustrating :P

Hi! I guess people are never satisfied with what they have. It's not like we do the opposite, sometimes we go to the extreme. For instance, I have a friend who is brown-skinned but she still would put on an artificial tan for that glowing, shiny look. It's not the opposite but even more extreme. It's plain and simple discontent. This also goes for all aspects of life. When we have enough money, we want more. When we have a job when others are already losing theirs from recession, we still complain and ask for a better job. To answer your question, though, I still believe that darker complexion is more beautiful because if you can imagine a lighter-skinned woman being darker, and is still very attractive -- then indeed that woman is very physically beautiful. Happy myLotting!

mental psychos like michael jackson... i think good looking people depends on the individual. there are good looking and ugly people in all races, regardless of the color of their skin. some dark people are photogenic and some arent. some white people are photogenic and some arent. looks have nothing to do of their skin color.

It only means that people are not contented with what they have. MOst of the time the black one's wants to have a white or fair skin while a person who has a white complexion wants to be tanned.

That sounds really crazy to me. Where I am from, everyone is obsessed with being tan, whether its going to a tanning bed or always applying sunless tanning lotion. I would personally be a little bit tan than lighter.
