I don't know why I forgot about this store...but I guess because recently I added another bill on to my already tightened budget it just jumped out in my brain.
There are a couple of stores in my area that offer way below discounts of groceries as well as other items. Usually these are non-perishible items like canned goods, box meals, cereals, beauty products, toiletries, etc. The deal behind the great low prices (like anywhere ranging from $1.00-or less- to $10- depends on the items) is when a truck hauling the products get into accidents they cannot sell the products for wholesale if some of the products are damaged. My father was a truck driver back in the day and has confirmed this. LOL. According to him if one product is damaged they assume all of them are and do not sort through them. So off they go to these types of stores because the insurance covers their losses.
Word to the wise though when i used to go there you have to look at the packaging...because some things may be missing (as in hair color packages) and make sure the cans are not dented...but trust me it is worth the look. most were selling for 4/$1.00. Also, check expiration dates. Everything I bought yesterday was well within time...so it must have been a recent truck accident.
Well yesterday after I adjusted my bills I knew I had to shop and load up for the next two weeks...so I made a quick stop there. And yes I spent a whopping forty five bucks, but it was well worth it. I shaved about $30-50 dollars off my regular shopping bill if I had bought these name brand items (which were cheaper than the generic in the regualr store) in the regular grocery store. I got a little of everything from canned goods, to allergy medication, to Banquet Honestyle Bakes dinner kits. So it will be on my next list of errands on my next pay day. The only drawback besides the extra looking and inspecting is the fact you are not sure what they will have.
But I made sure I passed the word on at work because they had a whole pallet of huggies baby wipes (the big bag) for $4 and when I went to the grocery for my perishibles I was curious as to the wholesale price....in the grocery store it was selling for $6.89 on sale.
So do you have stores like this in your area? Do you like shopping this way? Do you find it bothersome?

I shop a lot at Aldi's for canned goods especially. They sell off brands, and its one of those bring your own bag places. I get a lot of my canned vegetables and soups there. I have found a few things we have not liked too well, but for the most part I can go in with $30 and fill my pantry with lots of good stuff that will last us a long time. I like their cereals too.

We have one of those shops close to where I live. Well if you consider 45 minutes or so close. Anyway, I do find it entertaining to go there and see what kinds of things they have for sale. We used to buy cat food from there, the canned stuff anyway because it's always rather cheap for a case compared to all the other places that sell the food. We buy a lot of boxed goods from there as well as they're priced well below what the stores sell them for. We also buy a lot of things like sauces and dressings there as they're like $2 less than regular stores. It's interesting finding the bargains sometimes. I especially like searching through their books. They always have a nice selection of rather interesting books priced $10 or less than the bookstores and it's great finding awesome deals when you're a book lover like I am.
