I was recently viewing a local TV chat show where the anchor is an 'effeminate personality' and has earned great social respect for his works as film director to his credit. He raised a point in course of discussion with a guest, another popular TV personality. The guest has earned great TRP my mimicking our host in question in different TV programs, Talk shows and also on stage.
The host pointed out that it is unfair to mimic people with effeminate personality like him on stage repeatedly as this may put similar other people in the community in an embarrassed position. Remarking 'mimicry' as an inferior form of art, he said that it has been his strength and not weakness to be an effeminate person but he feels for those who might think otherwise, and might feel uncomfortable while viewing such programs. As far his claims, he has received repeated calls from people requesting him to communicate this message to the mimicry artist in question (the guest). He also advised the guest to become more socially responsible.
Our guest, the artist, tried to establish his point telling that he does it because people loves to watch it. He also told that he has due respect for any character he chose to clone. However, he expects that the audience with difficulties will take it as a humor, and not as an attack at personal level.
Now I would like to let you put more input to this, how do you feel when you see one effeminate personality? Do they become your soft target of fun? Or, you accept them as they are.
Do the society you live in is civilized enough to accommodate room for minorities in different forms?

In UK being homosexual has been promoted over being heterosexual. Event hough it is extremely rare, the number of 'effeminate' personalities on TV has multiplied.
I believe humpoour and mimicry should be able to be directed at anyone and everyone. if homosexuals want equal (rather than favourable) treatment then they should be able to put up with the same level of mimicry and sarcasm as the rest of us.
Unfortunately certain groups expect favourable treatment (women and homosexuals for example) rather than equal treatment and that is probably why you are hearing complaints.
It is a sad fact of life that these groups ar now more important than heterosexual men - the bottom of the heap and treated the worst just about everywhere. that is why i am standing up for men, fathers and children - for a better life and equal opportunity for all, not just for women and homosexuals!
