Do you like grandfather clocks?

We have one that sounds the Westminster chimes.

I like them. I wish we had one in our living room, but they are so expensive I cant afford one

A grandfather clock was just given to us by my great aunt. i have no idea how to run it. i've been searching for links to learn about them, but so far no luck.

Do you know whether it is chain driven or key driven? If it is chain driven it will have weights that must be pulled up by the chains and slowly let drop by the movement of a pendulum. Usually the weights have to be raised about once a week. If it is key driven, there will be small holes in the face in which a key is inserted to wind the movement. Again it usually has to be repeated every week or eight days. Do you have a clock shop in town? It would be worth a house call fee to have him look at it. Good Luck!

I like them very much. Every time we are in a furniture store, my husband finds himself looking at Grandfather clocks. He really wants to get one, but we really don't have a spot for such a large clock.

The chimes from your grandfather clock must inspire you. I don't have a grandfather clock, but I do love clocks. I have them everywhere in my house. Even in my bathroom. It's ironic too, because I don't believe in time.
