Is it just me or do eBay fees seem higher

I use to sell some low dollar stuff on eBay and found it to be a good way to move out some stuff and make a little money doing it. I recently went to sell some stuff again but the fees seemed unusually high. I was starting the stuff at .99 so the listing fee was only .15. However I sold a few things for 4.00 and they took .51 cents of that as a final value fee. What????????? Plus then there was the paypal fee, another .40-.50. Of course I had to pay for the bubble mailer and the postage and so by the time things were done I was making less then a dollar to sell these items. I checked out some sport cards because I buy some of those and I can't figure out why anyone would bother selling anything that isn't going to sell for more than a few bucks minimum with all the fees. it use to be a great place to sell cards but now with the final value fees being so high it hardly makes it worth it at all. Ebay ruined many card shops because you could find everything so cheap there, now though you can't because it doesn't pay for people to even list low dollar stuff. I know eBay has gone through a lot of changes but when I saw kramer telling people to avoid eBay stocks I knew they were doing something wrong.
