Have you ever tried feeding peas, sweetcorn etc to your tropical fish?

I recently started up an aquarium with a few tetras and mollies. I have heard that feeding them cooked veggies such as peas, sweetcorn etc (with the skin peeled) is meant to be quite good for their digestion. Is this true? And have any of you tried feeding similar things to your fish? My fish seem to put the veggies in their mouth's and then spit it out for a while! But then they go back for it and finish it off. Any similar stories? Has anyone tried cucumbers?

Yes cooked and shelled peas are good for a fish that is constipated if they will eat it. It is good to give a variety of foods to your fish as no one food is complete and if you give more foods, what one lacks the other(s) will hopefully make up.Mollies will (or should ) accept the shelled cooked peas but tetras are a lot of times not vegetarians and may not eat the cooked shelled peas.

Hi there, thanks for the advice. I have not tried veggies for a few days... been taking the easy option and feeding flake foods. I know you're right about variety though and will pick some more food up for them this week.

My betta loves peas and goes crazy when we give him some. We only give him them now and again though as he is supposed to be a carnivore. The corydoras will eat peas but they're not as keen.

Hi, thanks for the response. I would love to have a betta but apparently bettas are not compatible with the fish I have now. What colour is yours? I saw an amazing blue one online once

Hi, thanks for the response. I would love to have a betta but apparently bettas are not compatible with the fish I have now. What colour is yours? I saw an amazing blue one online once They're not compatible with much. We got corydoras as they are meant to be good tank mates but he sometimes chases them. Ours is a blue one with a black head. He is really pretty but I just wish he'd get on with other fish.
