Photogs at Funerals

Funeral Documentations - A funeral is a ceremony marking a person's death. Funerary customs comprise the complex of beliefs and practices used by a culture to remember the dead, from the funeral itself, to various monuments, prayers, and rituals undertaken in their honor. (wikipedia.org)

Are they really necessary? I mean some few pictures just to remind you that a loved one has dearly departed would be enough but what about a video documentation? Its just that a funeral is a sad event but photogs would ask the family to line up and pose behind the casket or something for a photo ...? Its as if they're being asked to line up for a graduation picture. But I guess its the family's and friend's preference. Especially when the person who passed was well known/famous/well loved by people. In your own funeral, would you prefer to have lots of media coverage or just keep it simple, somber and serious? or perhaps you'd prefer a funeral party wherein people are all smiles and a "no crying" rule? If you're attending a funeral and was asked by the photographer to join in the photo, would you show your best smile, show a sad smile, pretend-your-okay-but-actually-not smile, or just keep a straight face? Thanks for sharing.

I would find it inappropriate for a photographer asked the family to line up for a formal photo shoot with the casket. I wouldn't mind someone taking shots or a video of the proceedings.
