When you make a major purchase, do you buy an extended warranty? Manufacturers of everything from cars to cameras sell them, but are they worth the money?

I see very little value in extended warranties and consider it an easy way to increase the value of the sale. The standard warranty on items of high value, which are the only items worth considering a warranty on, usually lasts for 1 or 2 years so a further cover would be of no use during this period. This means that a 4 year warranty only lasts for 2 or 3 years. If the product is likely to become faulty then the shop should not be selling it.

I had a bad experience with one of those a while back and I never will buy another! RIP OFF!
