Do you ever get tired of watching the news? Sometimes I get so tired of it that I will go a week or two without even turning it over to the news channel or even watching the regular daily news when it comes on. I would prefer to watch sitcoms. It seems like sometimes when I watch the news it's like listening to a negative friend go on and on complaining. LOL So I try to keep tabs on which sitcoms come on and when. And just watch those. I often wonder if anyone would call and let me know if something really terrible happened. Like on 9-11 when the World Trade Towers went down. I'm sure someone would call me. At least I hope so. What about you? Do you get tired of watching the news?

Thanks for your response. It is true, they all do have the same things when it comes to the news. Different channels take different stories into more depth, that's the only difference I guess. HAve a great day!

I don't watch news on the television anymore but do check it online. I like it better that way because then I control what news I read and when. Also I find it gives me the control of what my children are viewing and how I want to present information to them. I find that "real horror" much more frightening than any hollywood film. I learned the hard way when my daughter was 2 and she was watching the news as I was washing dishes. I heard her start to cry such a horrible cry of true horror. When I looked up I saw a news report on poachers and they were sinking a live tiger. It was so horrible, I ran to turn it off. How do you explain these horrors to our children. So that killed the news for me.

Ah, what a sad story about your little girl. Thank you for sharing it with us. I too have a tendency to pick and choose what news I read also. That's what is so great about being able to read the news on the internet. Makes you wonder what we ever did before it. LOL Thanks for your response and have a wonderful day!

Hi friend, I generally watch cnn news channel. The channel also shows the same thing again and again which makes me feel boring. Some times it makes to look after the news again and again. It all depends upon the mood i have on that day friend.I think it is good to show them again and again because so many people don't look like me throughout the day. Have a nice day

You have a good point there. I guess the reason that some channels keep showing the same thing over and over, is if you only get a chance to look at it once a day. Then at least you will see the same thing that everyone else gets a chance to look at. Thanks for your response in this discussion. I hope you will have a nice day!

I think we all get somewhat tired of the news right around election time. It is kind of hard not to, at least here in the United States. I do think the media plays a big role in who gets elected. And I am not really sure why, but they do have a big influence on things. Thank you for your response in this discussion, and have a great day!

I'll tell you what, it is good to watch the news if you are getting ready to go to work and you want to find out about traffic before you leave. Then again, if you have to leave to go to work early in the morning, hardly anyone has the time to get up and watch it before they go into work. LOL Thanks for your response in this discussion, and have a nice day!

I do like to watch the sports news from time to time and see what's going on. Especially since I don't live anywhere near my favorite teams, so I can't watch them live. I usually get the scores from the bottom of the screen on ESPN or ESPN2. Thanks for your response, and have a great day!

I like sports, so I don't mind the sporting news. Although, if I want to hear that, I just put it on ESPN which is all sports. And even if they aren't talking about my teams, I can usually at least catch the score on the bottom of the screen. As far as celebrity gossip goes, I am not into that at all. I sometimes even get aggravated seeing just the headlines on the internet. Although, I'm sure there are some people who feel that way about sports too. :)

Watching the news can be pretty depressing. But I do like to know what is going on in the world. But it always makes me a little sad because you know there is always going to be something sad on there. I do like to get the weather reports though so that I know what I am in for the next couple of days driving wise.

You are correct when talking about how depressing the news can be. I think it would be great if they had at least a good news segment in the news reports of today. I like it when you here that somebody was saved or they found out a missing person wasn't really missing. But how often does that really happen. LOL Of course, we do have to watch and see what is going on in the world, or we would all be lost. Thanks for your response and have a great day myLotting!

Yes, I do. Especially when it talks about all the negative things that take place in this world. And when it talks about the election. I have not watched the news in about a month now.. I have seen bits and pieces of other news, like Yahoo news.. But, to just sit and watch it, I have not done this so far.. I do get tired of watching it all of the time.. I just watch other shows on television. Or, I will keep my T.V. turned off.

Oh I agree cream97 about the election. This media gave the presidential candidate/elect the biggest wet kiss I have ever seen any media in my day. And what now, they are dogging O'Reilly? Thank you for your response, and have a great day.

I am getting fed out of watching the news since last week, they just repeat over and over on the coming inauguration of a new president, seem like everything has stop in the world where major events around us are not important anymore, all three major channels mainly just talk about the president elect and his family, instead of broadcasting news , it's more like telling an old story repeatedly.

Oh yes, and this is one reason I hardly have had my television on in the last week. I kind of felt that way around the election time. And then it was all said and done. So now, they have to go through this whole ordeal two and a half months later. Oh well, now maybe I can turn my tv back on and catch something good here in the next couple of days. I don't mind being away from it, because I always have the internet to keep me up to date.

I'm sick and tired of watching news too. They've got same old stories. Everyday, i always heard them(news anchors and reporters) tell stories about crimes and global crisis. They always inform us with bad things in this world! I hardly hear good news...

That's so true. I think that they should come out with some good news programs. I also think that if they didn't report that the economy was in such bad shape that it probably would be a lot better. I think the negativity makes it worse. Thanks for your response in this discussion and have a great day!

no just news but other tv programs, its all depresing now even the english soaps they watch in here are so so depressing! Thats why i sit on mylot since i discovered it and I own my own chat room in camfrog. News now are all about bad news!! oil, politics, disasters, deaths, murderes, and the whole lot of nutters that want to gain publicity. Im so glad that i much rather sit and watch discovery channel than those nutters.what is this worls about now days, there should be more nutter making the news about funny things, less murderers and injustice, less discussions and kill all the politics.!lol as if...but i can wish! well thats my opinion, ufff i talk to much and my imagination doesnt stop there...

Oh thank you both so much for your honest opinions in this discussion. Your response reminded me of this show "GOOD NEWS" that used to come on TNT (I think), way back in the day. It was one of those Turner Networks, I do remember that. They took a half an hour and just gave good news. And the theme song was that country song "Sure could use a little good news today". Thanks again, and have a great day!

It depends what sort of mood I'm in. I know how you feel about the negativity, therefore if I am feeling a bit down anyway, and do not feel that great about stuff I usually do not watch the news, as unfortunately most news is about bad things which have happened, or are happening.

I just wonder if the media didn't push so hard on some of the issues and wasn't so repetitive if things wouldn't turn around. Let's say they went for a month without talking about the stock market. They just report it, and don't elaborate on it. Do you think that things would start going in the opposite direction because no one heard anything bad about it today except just facts. That's what I want to tell them. "The Facts nothing but the Facts."

Thanks again for responding in this discussion. I have to admit, I do know some old timers who have nothing else to do with their time than to sit around and listen to the different News channels all day long. I think they need to get a hobby. Oh wait, I guess they already have one. LOL (These people really aren't all that old either.)

Yeah sometimes they can drag things on a bit can't they? I suppose there are people who do want to hear the elaborated version but I am sure there are lots of people (like you and me) who don't!

The news can get really depressing at times. It just seems like there is no end to the flow of bad news coming from our news channels, terrorism, rising prices, global warming just to name a few. But I think that is where the beauty of news lies. It keeps us in touch with reality, and makes us aware that there are such problems facing us, and the fact that people get disturbed by this shows that as fellow humans living together in this world, we are concerned about these issues and worried about their effects. This is one step in bringing all of us closer to being fully integrated global citizens I would guess.

Oh my, that is a great evaluation or theory if I may. You make some very good points, that I hadn't ever thought about. It is not only good to be made aware, but also that we are all aware of the same things. Thank you for sharing your views in this discussion, and have a great day!

My problem with the news besides all of the depressing stuff from the economy and the annoying stuff with the politics is it is quite scary. Did you ever think that some people could get scared of nervous by watching it? I guess it is good to be on your toes though. LOL Thanks for your response, and have a great day!

I just love watching the news and my favourite channel is Sky News! I don't watch the news 24/7 obviously but I do like to be kept informed as to what is going on in the world! I have even come to like some of the news presenters! The women are absolutely gorgeous and have beautiful smiles! When I have had enough of all the bad news I change the channel to Only Fools and Horses! Andrew

I don't think we get the Sky News channel here where I live, but we do have a number of channels that show only the news 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I am also not familiar with the Only Fools and Horses network. That sounds like that could be pretty interesting. LOL Thanks for your response, and have a great day!

me and my husband actually have a little joke about the news everday. before we even turn on the t.v, we decide that there is an apartment fire, someone got shot in an apartment parking lot or a bar. and sure enough, when we turn on the t.v there it is. its always something bad and they interview the worst people. rarely do you see them interview an inteligent person about a situation. as soon as we see the weather, we turn it off. its to dang depressing and the same old crap everyday.

I wonder if people who don't watch the news have a more positive life in general. Or if people who constantly are watching the news have a more negative life or attitude. It would be interesting to do a study about this. HMMM! You have given me an idea here. Thanks for your response, and have a wonderful day.

I watch the news maybe once a month because every day there are more crimes in the world it's just so frightening. Hearing bad things happened to a friend, family member, places you been to, or someone you just met on the news is very sad and horrifying to me. So I just tune those out. I also like watching sitcoms particularly "Everyone Loves Raymond", "George Lopez", "Friends" and so on. Watching sitcoms makes my day because it just relieves my stress.

Try to even DON'T watch the news. You'll feel soooooooooooo independent. There are scientist who have proven that when watching TV, the humand mind enters a total inactive state. And, in this state of mind you can be easily manipulated. Don't choose to just eat all the information. In fact, ignore it! It won't help, it won't kill you! Try to be informed the little as possible, in order to maintain good corelations in your life.
