Grocery Outlet Chains

I was so excited a couple of years ago when we got a United Grocery Outlet (UGO) nearby. I had lived by one previously, and appreciate the savings. We regularly get meat there. (I can't remember the last time we bought hamburger at WalMart - oh, yeah, wait, it was the meat my husband complained about the other night!) You can get good prices on bread, frozen items, canned goods. The only problem is that some things are not there permanently, but then you find something new that is cool I was wondering, what other grocery outlet chains are out there besides UGO?

It's cool to have a such a nice grocery outlet nearby your house. It's very convenient and consider all the fuel cost being saved. The nearest grocery outlet to my apartment is Tesco. It's not bad and have all the day to day necessities that we need. Usually I just walk there because it's just about 300 meters away from my building. So, it save me time and fuel cost by shopping for basic necessities in such away. Besides, Tesco is giving us points for every purchase we make. The points are accumulated for cash voucher exchange. The vouchers are mailed to me automatically. That's great and give us more savings!

Well I see, that's far. I can't imagine to travel 15 miles to the nearest grocery shop. Because I am living within the urban area, that's why the grocery shop is just a stone's throw away from my house. I bet you are living in a greenish unpolluted environment. I like serene place and having clean air too. That's what I lack of here, although I could enjoy the convenience of facilities. Ya, Tesco is implementing customer-first policy. It's the lowest price among its competitors most of the times, and this is another reason why I like to shop there too.

That sounds like an excellent place to shop! I wish our place was withing walking distance... we are in the "boonies", and our "close" shop is 15 miles away. :)

We dont really have any stores like that around us that I can think of. I just watch the sales at the stores around me and use a lot of coupons to get great deals. If there were a cheaper way to shop I definately would. We have a lot of grocery stores around us but none that I would consider outlets. I really didnt even know that something like this existed.

United Grocery Outlet is the only chain I am aware of, but that doesn't mean there aren't more. Let's say for some reason a shipment can't be made to the original store. UGO will purchase the food, and sell it discounted at its stores. I think they do more than that, however, because at WalMart you buy a bottled soda (20 oz impulse type buy) for I think $1.25, but at UGO they are 90 cents. You do have to be more careful of dates - sometimes things are RIGHT at expiration date. And I think the bread is like what you can get at the "day old" stores that most bread companies have. You can get really good buys if you shop carefully.

We have a couple of these types of stores here in Australia, they certainly do help save on the weekly food bill, I don't know what people would do without places like this, they are life savers....

If my husband wasn't so picky about certain things, I would probably get a lot more of my groceries there!
