This the argument advanced by parents and people who hit their spouse. Is this argument justified ?.Are both equally justified or is one more justified than the other.I received quite a few spankings in my time and I think I am better for it.Or is it only justified when done in moderation and backed by conscience ? What is your take on this issue ?

Hey, its never justified, you are talking about two sensible grown ups here , the moment you hit another person with or without concsience you admit that you are an insecure and an immature person. Who knows next to nothing about respect, loyalty, commitment and comunication. Hitting kids, spouses is never okay and niether is putting up with it. It just shows your own insecurity. If you recieved theat I am sorry but I feel appalled by it, thats totally indignified way of life.

I believe this way of instilling discipline to one's child is acceptable, as long as one parent do not go beyond his/her limit. It is a more effective way to teach a child what should or what should not be done by a child. Unlike "disciplining" one child through words which is really ineffective for most children. This is how love and concern by a parent is being communicated to a child, this is one way to prove the truthfulness of the saying "learning through experience."
