well i find many beggars begging for money especially near the traffic signal. i find many beggars who are not physically or mentally handicapped. i find them healthy. they are normal, yet they beg for money. i will definitely give money for those who are either physically or mentally challenged. do you think that we should give money for the undeserved ones? they could work somewhere to earn money rather...its better than begging...

Yes, i agree. There are many physically well beggers out there now. I don't know why they don't want to find a job but to beg for the money. The only conclusion i get is they are lazy! Since they are lazy for me, i will never give any cent to this kind of beggars. Why we should give them the money? If nobody give them money, i don't think there will still be "healthy" beggars around us, just because some people think they should give the money, that's why those beggars knows there are still chances to get the money without doing any hard work! I read from reads many years ago, it's about the earning from the beggars, they can really get much money a day without doing anything!

Hi there! I'm here not for cursing or quarrelling with anybody :-) I'm here just for sharing my views and i appreciate and respect others' opinions too. I believe you are a very kind-hearted person, my father is just like you. Every time when someone is begging the money from him, he will always give them the money no matter how the person is. But for me, i only help those people who i think that deserves my help, i tend to help old people, children, or those handicapped persons (because i know there are much more difficult for them to find a job and get through the difficulty time). There are two cases that i have met before, 1. One day i walked through the night market, but on the street, there were lots of handicapped old women and men lying down there and begged for the money. This was the first time appeared in the night market, they never appeared before. What i guessed was there was an organization who controlled these poor and pity old people, why i thought like this because the clothes they wore were almost similar, and it's so weird that they showed up there only on that day! I was struggling whehther or not to help these old people, but finally i gave them money because i know their purpose was all about money, and they were forced to do that, if they didnt get any cents or less money from the people, perhaps the bad people from the organization will treat them badly! 2. A physically well young man begged the money from me, then i did not give any cents for him! Why? Because he can actually find some work to do, even from the job he won't get so much money, but at least he earns the money by himself, since he is physically well! I saw many blind people here and they actually sell the tissue papers, they are handicapped, but at least they don't beg for nothing! These people are more worth to help.

First of all this is a very good topic. I never give a penny to beggars that looks physically fit. By doing so we are just making the society lazy. He could find a job for himself, at least a servant job. If he would have tried hard, I am sure he would have got one. But rather, he choose to beg. Why exactly? Because of laziness. So by helping the beggars who are physically fit, we are committing a sin to the society by making peoples lazy.

now a days it's really hard getting a job, i know, i've been looking. majority of men without higher education tend to drift towards construction, and right now construction companies have been laying off like crazy, unemployment is at the highest it's been in many yrs. I think that in this economy if i have extra i will help whomever needs it, but right now i really don't have any extra as this economy has affected my family as well. i used to say tho especially when the economy was real good, i'd only give to the ones who look like they r unable to work. but if u ask me a beggar standing out in the freezing cold or extreme heat it working hard, i could never do that.

The answer to whether I will give money to the 'healthy' beggars or not is it depends on the situation. I always try to think positive of other people and would not regard them as scroungers unless proven otherwise. There are people who appear healthy but are actually suffering from internal illnesses or injuries. Take myself as an example. I look strong and healthy. But I am unable to do menial jobs because the finger joints of my right hand are damaged. I could not hold a grip for more than 1 minute. I have met physically strong and healthy persons asking money from me. Instead of being prejudicial I asked them questions to ascertain the truth in the reason they gave for asking me for money. If they say they need to buy a ticket to go home then I would offer to buy them the ticket. If they refuse then I would not give them the money because a refusal usually means they are lying. This has happened to me before. In conclusion I would reiterate that I would give money to healthy beggars if they can convince me that they really needed it.

no i dont think that we should give money to the healthy beggars instead i would feel like helping the people who are not physically unfit and who are really in a need like the old people, ladies with children. this kind of people obviously we can help them but not the healthy men and they can do some or the other work and earn but instead those people want to beg and it is really not fare and fine on them and they have to keep their self respect by earning a little and do hard work instead of begging and lose their respect.

When i see beggars on the street i felt pity for their situation and my heart cries for them because im a very soft-hearted person. But when they come and beg for money i have doubts to give them or not because there's a law that prohibits you from doing it coz it makes them become abusive of their daily activities and they always bother people in oublic places . But i do like to give money to the beggars who look sick and old and who seems have difficulty of walking . There are beggars who are grannies already and they dont have the capacity or strength to look work for something in order to survive other than begging in the street. I like to help the kids too who are very young like 4 or 3 yrs old who are walking barefooted in the muddy road without clothes sometimes and makes me wonder how come they dont get sick when he is naked most of the time and its just a baby.but it's true that we cannot help all of them unless the political leader will do something good about it.

To be honest, I don't really give money to beggars, healthy or otherwise. But then I don't think I've seen an unhealthy one where I live. Most of what I see are vagrants who would stand in the middle of the road, with a sign begging for food. Usually if I have food or something with me, then I would give it to them. I prefer to give food than money. My hubby on the other hand, would. He is quick to extend some money everytime he sees one. To be honest, I don't really judge them, because I understand how easy it is to fall into hard times, but I just don't like giving them money...thats all.

When I was a child, I feel pity about the beggars and often give them one or two yuan, when I meet one. I was told foolish for doing that by my arrounds. I don't knwo why but, when I grown up, i know the reason. Some of them are cheaters and just for life through begging with helthy body. So, I had never give money to any beggars till now.

if a person is outside a store and says i need money you just walk on or ask why? if a man said my baby needs diapers would you go in and buy them diapers? if i had the extra money i shur would. you guys are right it's not always good to hand them money but food, no eatin or opened food, or whatever they say they need money for, but just dont be mean, i know a man in fl. that goes to the beaches and beggs for money he dosent need to he just does so in that case it is wrong.

Obviously, this father is not responsible for the baby. Instead of begging for diapers, why not he use the washcloths. Most asians in developing countries want to save money, they usually use the washcloths at home, this is one way to save moeny for the baby. For me, this father does not put much efforts for raising the baby and also for the family.

i think u should not give money to healthy beggars. Because if they are capable of doin any work let it be labour only then they should do that instead of pleading people for money... else is your choice

Begging is a cancer to our society. By giving money to any beggars, we are indirectly promoting the beggary. Government collects taxes from all of us and they don't do anything about challenged people and let them go beg for livelihood. By giving money to beggars we are encouraging healthy people who are lazy enough not to work take beggary as profession.

Just becuse someone looks "healthy" may not mean that they are. I don't really give money to beggers. I guess I kind of feel that they could be out doing something to make a little money. They could pick up cans, they could pick up scrap metal and return that for money. It is easier though to just sit somewhere and beg for it and get people to give it to you. That may sound a bit cruel but so is the world.

Ya know I am starting to think that this is a growing career path. There are now beggars where I get on the highway on my way home from work. Where I get off and at the first light after the exit. To tell you the truth I am considering quitting my job and getting a cardboard sign it is obviously a lucrative endevor

I don;t give to people begging and yet they are stronger and more able to earn money than me. I tis very annoying to see these people roaming around asking for money and yet we can see that they are very healthy? By doing so, we are teaching them to be lazy. These kind of people should not be tolerated in our society. Maybe the best thing to help them is let them work if ever we have something for them to do, and then pay them for their labor. Like mowing the loan, fetching water, clean the yard or whatever it is that they can do before giving them money. Well, if we happen to just meet them on the street? advice them to find a job that they could earn more than begging. How much they could from begging? than a legit work? Laziness!!

I guess the whole giving alms to beggars encourage them to do continue begging. If people really want to do the right thing, there are legitimate charitable institutions that can do it better than we can. These institutions really need donations and I guess that's the way to go, if you are into charity. Healthy people have no business begging for money at all! If I feel like giving people money, I wouldn't give it to people who are capable of helping themselves. There are people who need it more. I agree with you, they don't deserve charity.

However, during evening I went out with my friend by bus.I saw them taking bus too with new look. They are the same people. It is more shocking when they own handphone.!!Holly *&^%.They trick people easily in order to get money in easy way.
