I honestly dont like AVG, specially the free one. it does not really cure or disinfect some viruses... i prefer nod32. it doesnt important if its automatic or manual just keep it up to date... im telling you dont try AVG (i tried it and FOR ME it's the worst anti-virus ever!!!)...

I'll go for auto updates. No hassle, a bit annoying but it helps a lot for the PC.

If you manually update your antivirus daily, then there is not much need of automatic updates. But if you ignore updating daily then you should leave automatic updates on to prevent any kind of threats.

In my case i use a manual update, it's a better way to manage my memory and make my computer faster, with kaspersky lab antivirus, in my opinion you should install an anti spyware program with manual update...Good Luck !!!

no odds automatic or manual, important thing AV updates get in due times. I use in my computer in Vista Nod32 and in WinXp F-Secure and other is automatic updates. I think it's little better then manual.

I am not much of a geek but I would ask you to deactivate automatic updates ot only for AV but for all kinds of updates. Since most use pirated version of OS, the automatic update might pose problem in operating. So check it out. thanks.

It really doesn't matter whether it is manual or auto. The important thing is that it is updated. What's good about automatic updates is that the computer does the job for you automatically, unlike in manual where you do it yourself.

Whatever you prefer, it's a matter of taste. What is important is not to use Norton (it doesn't detect the Symantec virus that slows down your computer), nor Avast o AVG (almost every file you scan is a virus), use NOD32.

Automatic or manual, each has it own plus and minus. Automatic is good way to go with your AV, where your data will be up to date with newest threat information and ready to protect your computer. One think that could be see as minus, is you don't know when the update happened and sometime when you are in the middle of important thing the update kick in where it could cause something that could be annoying. Manual, your AV will not be ready to protecting your computer since the data not up to date with the newest information but you have more control over your computer. It doesn't matter which method you choose, there is one thing you need to understand, you don't know what kind of information they put or maybe they take from your computer. If you are paranoia about computer security, you should take this into your account. BR
