A Great Treat

I absolutely love butter cookies. Not just the regular ones but I prefer the ones made in Denmark. These are just so great tasting. I usually get a huge can like the one pictured here around the Holidays a few times. But I do buy them all year as well. Just not the large can. These are made ion Hedensted Denmark. As the name of the cookie states, they are made with 26% butter so not a diet staple to say the least. I bought this can Saturday afternoon and already they are nearly gone. This can has roughly 250 cookies total and each is about the size of US half dollar coin.About an inch or so across. I shouldn't eat that many but I can't resist. So what is your favorite imported cookie/treat you really love etc?

Hi grandpa bob! I love those butter cookies too! There's
something about those Denmark butter cookies that make them
so good! I can eat them like you do! I can finish the can
really fast too! I love all kinds of Christmas cookies
though! I had a neighbor that used to bake the best Christmas
cookies I have ever tasted! She made so many different kinds.
I used to get to sample them. I miss her! She moved away
quite some time ago and had stopped baking too. I wish I
knew how to bake. I was never really any good at cookie baking.
I'm just really good at cookie eating!

I love baking Christmas cookies...all kinds. baking isn't really that hard at all. I am teaching my 10 yr old son how to cook in the kitchen. Even baking. But he knows right now I have to help him get things in and out of the oven.

I love flapjack my friend, but only if it is homemade by my wonderful cook of a mother! I won't eat shop bought flapjack because it tastes greasy and sickly sweet, but mum's flapjack is out of this world and I love it, it's a good job I work off the calories at the gym because I can eat and eat and eat it and never get fed up with it. When mum bakes it I can't wait for it to cool down so I will eat it and then take the box up with me and nibble away to my hearts content, well my excuse is that it's brain fodder for when it comes to responding and creating discussions on Mylot!

Where can I get these butter cookies? I'm afraid I can't order because I'm afraid postal workers will eat them before the cookies get to me!
I need a recipe, a store, something! I ate butter cookies when I was little and a family friend from Holland came to visit us. Yummy, yummy!
To respond to your question, my favorite treat is caramel cake made by me and my mom. We have a special recipe and it's just delicious!

Those are some good cookies. They seem to always taste better around this time of year. I like shortbread cookies too. Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies w/pecans are really good too. I could go on about which cookies are yummy, most of them are good.

Yummy I love the Danish Butter Cookies. I buy 3 tin cans at a time and eat them all myself. I used to save all the cans cause they are to pretty. But last year I just got rid of them all. I gave them to a friend that collects them.

They sound really good, I do like butter cookies a lot. I have a recipe for shortbread cookies you might like. They are very easy to make and taste really good. The cookies are called...melt in your mouth shortbread.
I can't really think of a favorite imported treat.

Sure, here it is. Let me know what you think!
Melt in your Mouth Shortbread Cookies
1 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup confectioner's sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
Whip butter with an electric mixer until fluffy. Stir in the confectioner's sugar, cornstarch, and flour. Beat on low for one minute, then on high for 3 to 4 minutes. Drop cookies by spoonfuls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on wire racks.

I like butter cookies. I have made them a few times before. I do sometimes get the Danish Butter Cookies in the tin at either Walmart or Walgreens too though. I was thinking of making some Butter cookies or some Scottish Shortbread later this week.

Your cookies look delicious. I love butter cookies. I have a big oblong tin, very tall, that is from Lambertz, made in Germany. It was a tin full of assorted cookies and they were delicious. My husband has tried to get me to throw the tin away, but it's too pretty to throw out! Your tin is gorgeous. I wouldn't mind having that plus the cookies to boot!

I love butter cookies too especially if they are FREE. We really don't buy butter cookies, we usually just get it as a present during the Holidays or when someone is in the hospital. I love all those differently shaped cookies and I love them more when they're in my mouth already. Too bad they run out easily without noticing it.

I used to love those too, my parents always used to get those in for christmas. I do not eat a lot of sweet stuff these days and the kids are not much for them so I do not buy them anymore. I guess there is not really any treat that is imported that I have ever really tried I tend to just buy what there is in the shops although I found a shop on ebay the other day that sells American sweets which I am tempted to try!

Well I like those cookies too, but it seems I only see them around the holidays. One year, I got a can of cookies like that for Christmas and they were really good, so when they were gone I went to the store to see if I could find some more, well they had other cookies like that and they were made in Denmark, thats what it said on the can, but when I tried the cookies they didn't taste the same as the ones I had. From then on, I've never found the same cookies that I had the first time, they've always tasted different, they're still good, but not as good as the others were. I'm like you, my weakness is cookies and cakes, or pastries, and if they are in the house, I'll eat them, I'm diabetic so its not good for me to be eating them..lol.

I see them all year long.
Aldis here sells them in a small can usually.
That's where I get them most times.
But the Holidays call for the good ones in this type of fancy can(s).
I have very high cholesterol so baked things are not great for me.
Thanks to meds I can eat them still though.

I get these Danish cookies also at this time of year Bob. They are lovely. My favourite cookies at Christmas are Scotish butter shortbread. I bought a tin to put away for Christmas and I was eating some as I read this post there, which was a coincidece. I could not resist opening them but. I will not eat my dinner now either as I cannot stop eating it.
Danish cookies and Scotish shortbread are excellent.
We will have to go buy some more now.

I buy them all year actually.
Just at this time of the year I buy the good/exspensive types as I love the cans etc. I usually get them at Aldis during the regular year for a lot cheaper. I have so many artistic cans like this around the house. I use them to wrap gifts in and to put cookies etc in as well. Great gift ideas empty or full.
