I had an operation and had my thyroids totally removed..so I have to drink thyroid hormone supplement daily. As you can see at the picture I attached..it's still somewhat fresh and just waiting for the scar to heal.I have friends who are actually calling me as the lady frankenstein and I actually don't mind I even joke around and tell them I could do a lot of tricks with the scar I have on my neck and they are careful to make me laugh and they are scared that the scar might open..heelllloooo. I was actually told by my doctor and some girlfriends that I should consult a dermatologist so that they can have the scar fixed and probably not to be so obvious on my neck. If you have a scar on your neck, will you just leave it alone and be proud of it or you will consult a dermatologist to have it removed or at least do something to the scar so that it will not be that too obvious? Suggestions highly appreciated..thanks.

I have about 7 or 8 scars, two of which are in my face and a rather obvious one on my left leg. With the exception of the one on my left leg, they are all rather small. Most of mine were pretty noticeable when I first got them, but with time, they pretty much faded. I've had scars for so long that they don't bother me anymore. Now, you might want to ask yourself if your scar bothers you so much that you want to go see a specialist. Though I would highly recommend that you keep in mind that your scar is going to fade with time. It may not disappear completely, but I'm sure that it will be less noticeable. Also keep in mind that it is entirely your decision. Scars is something I know a little about. I hope I've been helpful. And if ever you need more advice on this matter, I'd be more that happy to listen and give you some advice.

I think you should be proud of it. We should all be proud of our bodies.

That's a hell of a scar you have there. I mean it looks a bit scary in a sense that one would think you might have cut your neck some time ago. But no offense, i don't mean to hurt your feelings. I suggest you should consult a dermatologist altogether and have it fixed. I don't know what goes inside the minds of your friends for calling you lady frank. That's a bit outrageous to me.

yep i know.I had it covered with a gauze pad for 3days but the doctor told me that it would be best without it.People would look at my face after they saw the scar on my neck. It's good also that I am not the sensitive type of person..I am basically a funny woman so I don't find it offensive if they joke about my scar.At least it's just on my neck and not on any part of my face. But I'll get the opinion of a dermatologist soon when the scar and wound is already okay.

I am glad you are not a sensitive person. We can all use a good sense of humor to lighten things up. Wish you a good healing process...;-)

the red turtleneck can hide the scar but I don't mind if people will look at my neck first then to my face.lol.I even scare them and say "..booo.." lol.Probably next year I'll consult a derma.

My sister has a shirt which says: "Scars are like tattoos, but they have better stories." My sister & I both have scars on the front of our necks from having discs removed. Your scar will probably fade to where it's almost unnoticeable. But if it bothers you in the mean time it wouldn't hurt to consult a dermatologist.
