I always wonder why kid's toy are priced higher. When I go to stores to look for some toys, I was really in shock most of the time seeing how a small piece can cost me so much. Of course a lot would say, specially the companies who sell the toys, that those are beneficial and all. In a way I know how some toys can be beneficial to the development of the kids. The thing is, why do they have to charge us higher for that? It is just like the education system where you have to pay higher for your kid's proper education. I find it absurd most of the times.. How about you guys? WHy do you think kid's toys are priced that much? DO you think it is fair?

Hi pehpot I agree as to what you said there. Indeed there are so many children funds that we have to keep in mind and it's not easy to cope up with the essential accessorical expenses of the children. The toy companies capitalise on that. They make it bit too high for they know the parents and adults would sucuumb to the kids wishes ultimately. Having said this, there is another aspect. Childrens' toy stuff material, be it plastic or metals or fibres are the most high quality and the renowned companies have to keep in mind the fact that the kids would handle those. These stuffs are not toxic and highly children friendly. That could be the reason of high prices. But nevertheless, its promotional buisness stategy as well.

It may be because of the name brand. That is what I have been told, why toys are priced very high in the stores. It is all about the popularity of the name brand.

Thats what I think too cream97, that its the name brand, but I also think its because of the name on the toy. There are so many toys, with different characters names on them, all the popular cartoons and shows on tv, have toys out with their names on them. I think people are just buying the names, celebrity names too.

I see no reason to pay such high prices for kids toys and now a days you have to be do careful what one buys because the paint may contain lead. I think it is a rip off and wish there is something we can do about it.

haha.. KIds can only be young once in a life time, and as they grow up, they cant return to being kids again.. SO, other than playing all those toys in their childhood days, there wont be other times they will be playing with it again.. haha ^_^ SO, like u mention, if the toys are beneficial to the development of the kids, that will be the only time they will play with it.. haha ^_^ As most expensive things are priced like that, as they only have got limited shelf life, in one's world.. lol

Hello Pehpot! I think kid's toys are higher because there are lot of kids. and they can profit more on this toys since, kids will choose to have toys. and parents can do nothing but buy something their kids or their godchildren will enjoy. have fun!

i think that just like the rest of the world it has become too over industrialized. you are just paying for a name printed on the toy. i say do what Katt Williams said. buy your kid 100 toys from the dollar store. and see how happy they are.

I think parents of today's world are ready to buy things that they missed when they were a child..So they buy toys even though they are highly priced. The current parents are affordable too. They want to give the best to their kids..So the toy manufacturers make use of this and they demand more price for their products.

I can say I dont like it at all especially around Christmas, I have 7 kids and 10 grandbabies to buy for. Everything has gone up in price, it is up to the shopper to be smart and up to them what to buy. Honestly none of it is anything that is a necessisity really, just nice to get. It comes down to the fact that the manufactors can as there are parents that will hear the child say I want, I want and so the parent buys it. In the end it is up to the parent to decide what is right for their child, what is needed and what they can afford. I have found that kids have just as much fun learning thru pointing and doing colors, singing and being outside. Spending time with them and teaching is fun too!

I think that popular name brand toys can be exceptionally expensive. My older son liked Thomas the Tank Engine toys when he was younger. Now he is keen on his laptop, Play Station and Nintendo DS. My younger son like the Tellytubbies and In the Night Garden. I bought my older nephews Star Wars toys and my oldest niece Snow White. It was cheaper to buy my younger niece art materials. Children's toys cost way too much these days. Families with many children must struggle financially at Christmas time.

Hi there pehpot Yes I do get annoyed too at the price of toys especially educational ones. I also get annoyed at the price of kids shoes! I pay twice as much for my kids shoes as I do for myself but they grow out of them before they have worn them out so they don't even get the wear out of them!!

Because the more a kid loves a certain toy, the more likely a parent is to buy it, therefore, they raise the prices of the most popular toys. No it's not fair.

Yeah they cost so much, but break so easily! Everything cost so much anymore, companies I think just want to make profit, cuz u know it don't cost that much to make them or package them.

No, I don't think it's fair that you have to pay up to 50 cents a piece for Lego in Walmart, when the Lego outlets sell them $2 a pound.

I agree that kids toys are priced high. I believe there is a logic behind this. Toy manufacturers have to take care of several safety guidelines. There should not be sharp edges as the kids may get injured. The toys should not be toxic because kids may keep it in the mouth. Educational toys needs lot of pre-work and lot of brains is used while manufacturing them. So we have to pay for the intellect behind them. Above statements are purely my opinion and I am not supporting toy manufacturer. I am a buyer of toys for my kid.

This is a tactic that the companies use. The child sees the toy and then wants it. Most parents then make sure they buy the toy for the child and do not tendto make a compromise here on the price. Toy companies know this and keep it higher priced.

I think it is because of the demand. Everybody purchases toys as gifts for their young relatives. Even kids demand toys. So, I believe toys are high-priced simply because of the demand. Cheers and happy mylotting

Yes, i can also see that the toys for the kids are getting higher. Sometimes, i don't like to buy toys to my nieces because if they don't like it already they just live it or sometimes threw away so the money you spend for that toys isn't worth it.. I would rather buy them food at least I know that it is worth it.. Well, i guess the reasons why toys are getting expensive its because Christmas is coming and most company thinks that its their chance to high the prices of the toys because even the price is higher many people still buy toys for presents.. I know that its not really fair but we can't do about it unless parents and other people would stop buying toys.. If people won't buy toys already then the companies would have no choice but to sell it cheaper..

All the prices are increaing, esepecially of the toys. I think there are two reasons: 1)with the decelopment of thecnology and ecnony, the high-thecnology is introduced into the producing process, as a result most of toys are intelligent. For example,it can can speak or chat with your child, dance into music, share feelings with your baby and so on, and all this need money. 2)At present, it is common to have one baby in each family, which means child is the centre of his parents. His need and sentation are his parens'work goal, so there are no parents could be completely indifferent when other'child has akind of toy that his does not. If toys are needed, they can buy without regard the money which is the stimulating factor of promoting toys.
