There are a lot of religions in our little world and I'm wondering which you think are the most interesting and unique. Especially the ones we don't hear about often. Please give reasons for your responses. Thanks.

I would have to say one of the neo-pagan religions, like wicca or druidism. They have a pantheon of Gods and Goddesses which act as riole models for any area of life. For instance, Aphrodite is the Goddess of Love, so if you have love issues you "pray" to her. Athena is the Goddess of Wisdom, so if you need wise council, you go to her. Dionysos is the God of ecstasy, Hephaistos the God of creativity, and so on. Their belief system is open, nature-oriented, and to mind mind far more flexible than the other religions. You can belong to a group, or parctise solitary, and the rituals are very moving and psychologically and emotionally satisfying. Above all, most of them value the feminine principle equally with the male principle, whcih is something I believe the world needs. Lash

Very good response. These are definitely my favorites to study, especially since they are so diverse. In some of these religions, especially the old Greek and Roman versions, the rituals were to keep the wrath of the gods at bay. For the most part, in those times it was thought best to stay out of the eyes of the gods as they would tend towards mischief for their own entertainment. People of unnatural talent or beauty were the most at risk of drawing the attention of the gods as can be found in the tales of Ulysses, Jason and the Argonauts, Achilles, and the list goes on.

Well there are lots of religions in the world and I have no time for most of them. I like Wicca and broad Paganism. I like their attitude, their focus and the fact that they respect women as equals rather than suppressing them as second class people. I was brought up in a Christian family but I could never accept a religion that denigrated women as less than men and I feel that way about a any religion that does the same. Wicca and Paganism treats women as true equals which is their place in the world. I have no time for patriarchal nonsense.
