Last night I watched "Madea goes to jail" by Tyler Perry. Now I love Madea's character. And I loved Diary of a mad black woman. But I had to admit I do not like watching plays on tape. And this is a play that was recorded in front of a live audience. I htink I did not like it because you can hear the audience in the background. ANd Madea at times was out of character while acting as Madea. I guess like most plays (which I love to watch plays live) it is better in person. And I thought when my friend lent me this movie it was a movie. Although i have to say I fastforwarded to all the Madea scenes....and I loved them a lot. But until I have the opportunity to see one of Perry's plays live I wills tick to his movies.

I will admit that the first time I saw one of Tyler Perry's plays, I felt for the most part, they weren't professional, but they are what made Tyler Perry into the businessman he is. The very first play I saw him in, Diary of a Mad Black Woman, I wasn't crazy about, but I couldn't help but catch the message of his plays. Now, he's got his own studio and formula of doing things which is so much efficient and better than how Hollywood does it. Check out Ebony Sept, 2008 issue with him on the cover. As I kept watching his plays, no they weren't perhaps the very best, but see, there was something within them that struck a chord with folks. That is why he is so popular and has the favor of God with him. I have seen other playwrights do plays before he did, yet he did the same thing, and now he sticks to movies and has his own studio.
