Don't you hate it when they ask you this?

Recently I added a few more bills into my curent debt consolidation and I received a call from one of my creditors....and of course I knew they would ask this and maybe it is required by them toask this but it gets me everytime they do....
Why did you fall behind on payments?
I mean how are you supposed to answer this? Obviously I fell behind because I did not have the money flowing in to cover it LOL
So I always take a deep breath and try to explain myself without feeling like a loser. Which I knwo i am not enitrely a loser because I have taken the steps to continue repaying in a way that I know I can and basically I cannot get out of because it is automatically withdrawn from my account on a specified day.
But does this ever drive you nuts when they ask you this? I can just imagine what they hear sometimes as excuses and/or answers.
And what do you tell them?

I have had to face this one many times over the years, and it can be quite frustrating. Many times the people are so rude and do not want to listen to you which for me makes it even worse. Eapecially with the Economy the way it is a lot of them are not wanting SMALL payments, they are wanting everything usually or nothing. I do wonder though with the ones that are less understanding how sometimes they sleep at night. All I can tell them is I am working on getting caught up, and hopefully will be caught up soon, and due to current circumstances I had to fall behind, but I am trying to get caught up.

I know what I wanted to tell the person was "You should be happy I have a job in order to pay anything towrds the bill". It's ridiculous. I understand they want to be paid, well I want to pay it. It's a balance between the two parties in my opinion. I made sure I told the woman I am attempting to pay the debt because I know those calls are recorded for "quality purposes".

Hi taface. You are right. Some questions are so idiots that we must laugh. Of course if someone doesn't pay the bills is because doesn't have the money to do this. What they expect to hear? "I don't pay because I don't want to do this"?
But people like to make idiots questions like when you come into a place someone always ask "do you come?".
What they expect to hear as a reply? "No I'm not here"? It is very funny and I always think what they have in their brains to make this kind of questions.
Have a good day.

I know what you mean, whenever a creditor calls me, I immediately say that I know the bill was not paid because I do not have the money. I will break down to them how much I have each month, I am on unemployment. They will then say, can we set up a payment plan, when I have explained to them that I can only pay what I can when I can. A payment plan will do me no good at this time, because I may not have the money when the bill is due. I only get two unemployment checks a month, and one check does not even cover my rent, therefore after food, and utilities, gas and such, I do not have much money left.
Thank goodness, I have only received two calls today
I am glad you found a plan that works for you. Good luck
