Supposedly it isn't a lot and they are not listing forumla brands yet, but if you have an infant on formula, you may want to keep an eye on this news story. The concentrations detected in the FDA samples were 10,000 times smaller — the equivalent of a drop in a 64-gallon trash bin. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,457710,00.html

Wow, that is scary. Tsktsk. Anyways, what's the idea behind the melamine scare? I mean, why put melamine in milk? Tsktsk, people nowadays do anything for more money...tsktsk.

From what I understand, no one added this. This is stuff that rubbed off of the inside of the container the formula is stored in.

That's from the article. As of what I understand, it's minimal. In the news here in the Philippines the infant formula from China were really mixed with melamine, making it more dangerous. We have few cases here of children having kidney stones that is caused by the contamination. But then minimal amounts is still scary, and even though it's just rubbed off particles, it can still be harmful.

I found this disturbing to say the least. Even a little could be potentionally harmful, since the FDA said they could not determine what a safe level would be. Then they said in the same breath to keep feeding our children the formula. What's sad is that they knew for three weeks before telling people. My pediatrician didn't even know about it.

That is scarey. I have a friend of mine who had to feed her baby soy milk, because he was allergic not only to regular milk but also to her own milk. If an infant is highly allergic to melamine this would have tragic results. I do hope they recall all the brands that have it and also if a baby gets sick, they sue the company who put it in it.
