Self check out stands

Do you choose to use the self check out stands that are in some stores?? I've seen alot of stores get them & then get rid of them. I'm happy to see them go! They usually frustraited me as you did this or that or you took your bag off and it told you to put it back ect & I usually ended up needing a clerk to correct the problem anyway. K-mart & Wal-mart had them & then they took them out thank goodness. But now a regional grocery chain has put them in and I still refuse to use them. I like my mother-in-law's theory..... I don't patron something that will take a job away from a human. Do you like using the self check out stands?

Sometimes I actually prefer self check out ailses. The only time they really annoy me is when I'm at Kroger. Their self check out gets annoyed if you remove a bag, pick up an item to put it in a bag and everything else. I just like using them because it often means my wait in line is more shorter than it is otherwise.

See and all that jazz really annoys me with the machines. Plus I like having someone bag my items too as it can make my life a lil easier especially when I have all my kids with me.

I use them. I know how to though and I don't have a problem with it. I think it's mostly people not understanding how to scan items properly that cause the most problems. It's not hard... There are just times when it gets too busy in stores and I absolutely appreciate being able to check myself out in an orderly and timely fashion and get the heck out, especially this time of the year.

trust me I know how to scan things, I've worked for many yrs as a cashier. I usually have the problem w/ removing a bag & it requires a person to overide it or it won't let me delete an item ect. But if I have 1-2 things & lines are long I'd consider it, but otherwise no.

I use the self check-out stands whent he lines are too long elsewhere. I end up talking back to the darn machine like a madwoman. It is telling me this and that, do this or that. I'm intelligent and I follow instructions very well too. It says bag this or that, and I did already. It says place the item in the bag, and I did that already too. Every now and then I get through a checkout without assistance from the clerk.

They are very nice if you're buying one or two items, but the smaller ones in supermarkets tend to get very annoying, especially about telling you when to put items in your bags and when you're allowed to put the bag in your cart. The ones at BJ's wholesale, however, are larger and have a conveyor belt and work very nicely. They don't tend to take me more time to go through than a regular line with a cashier, and I think they save the store money, which hopefully gets passed on to people buying in the store in the form of savings.
