have you ever tried cooking turkey the whole thing in a pot of oil? i see people in florida cooking the bird this way. they take a lobster pot put it on a big outside burner fill the pot with oil and start cooking, they tell me it's the best turkey they've ever tasted.have you ever had your bird this way,it sounds pretty dangerous but i guess that's why they cook it outside

I saw a show on tv yesterday where they had a taste contest and 2 turkeys were cooked in the oven and one was deep fried and the deep fried won, they all agreed it was the most moist and tasty turkey they ever had. I would love to try it but since I live in a small apartment it's not a good idea. LOL Happy Thanksgiving!

It is an extremely popular way to cook it!!! I've never tried a fried turkey, but I hear it is delicious & EXTREMELY dangerous. It seems every year some fool burns down his house trying to fry a turkey. If it's too cold, it will make the oil boil over & catch on fire. If you put it in too fast, it will boil over & catch on fire. If you use too much oil...oh you get the picture!!! They are supposed to be cooked outside. However, since it is usually just beginning to get cold at Thanksgiving some move inside their garage or onto their porch. Hence, the fire when the explosion occurs. The oil hits the flame & flares up, then the oil in the pot catches on fire, then BOOM!!! They always say "But I thought I was being careful"

WE are having our turkey deep fried this year. A friend of my granddaughter is going to do it for us. She injected the turkey with a seasoning to set for 25 hoours. There are special cookers that are very large and come with a propane tank to get the oil hot. Any time you cook with oil it can be very dangerous because hot oil can catch fire very easy. It seems that haveing fried turkey for thanksgiving is a thing of the south. It is very good and moist. You don't have to cook it for hours either. No body said life would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it.
