Yes, Tom Hanks plays in a brilliant way and the story is just wonderful. In my personal ranking, it is placed among first ten best movies of all time. I remember perfectly the replies from the movie "Ruuuuuun, Foreeeest, Ruuuuuuun". A brilliant movie. But, if you said that you watched it already, let me give a work of art, All King's Men. It's an old movie, so you'll have to digg for it. It surely deserves the effort. :)

yeah i watched it like 10 times..
and the runing parts are awesome
and i'm so glad tht tom hanks sittin on tht bench is a trademark n a well knwn sign now!

You've got your man! I'm a lunatic movie viewer, or cinefil, how they call it in Europe. Well, what to say, try The pursuit of Happyness, a great movie, and inspired from reality. I can name you many more others, but we can do this one by one. Also, you may find very original Forrest Gump, but i doubt that you didn't see it.
