When you say/Said 'I Do' did you write your own vows?

I love to write poetry and was pretty shocked when my fiance was the one who requested that we both write our own vows. Now while I love my fiance very much he doesn't write often, in a poet way so to speak. I am soo looking forward to hearing his vows as I know they will make me cry because it's just something i'm not used to. I have written my own vows and kept them from him for a while now. My question to you mylotters is are you writing your own vows/ did you write your own on your wedding day. Also if you would like to share them I am more than happy to read them :) I'm not putting mine up yet because I don't want my fiance to 'stumble' across them.

I'm having a very traditional Greek wedding, and in the ceremony, we don't even say "I do". The priest does all the talking! However, if this weren't the case, I would be able to write my own vows, I just don't know that I would be able read them without sobbing!

Yeah that's pretty much going to be my huge problem is trying to do this without breaking down. My MOH is greek she wants to have me in her wedding but because I am not Greek or am baptized as greek I can't be that person. But it will be known kinda thing. Like there will be someone walking around with them etc. But i'll be at the head with her :D

yeppers I can still stand. On the side I will have a role just not officially in the church if you understand what I mean.

I think you can still stand in her wedding, you just can't have an actual role. In my wedding party, there is only one out of 8 people who are baptized in the Greek Orthodox church.

If it`s the type like "to be or not to be ,that`s a question". It`s thrilling!

My fiance and I were going to write our own vows but decided against it because we felt we'd be nervous enough as it is. We know we love each other very much and I often write him little love notes. I am the more creative one, while he is logical. When he writes something to me though it warms my heart and turns my insides to goo! lol!

I think if we had more time on our hands we would have liked to. I feel like its a better way but then again with the time restraints we just don't have the time required.

Time is definitely hard. I had mine done like a few weeks after my fiance suggested this. Needless to say I was excited to write them and love writing so for me it didn't take a lot of time at all. I was surprised at how it all flowed out. Mind you I revamped them completely 2 years later :)
