Will you wrap the gifts?

Most of the time I won't wrap the gifts. As I think it wastes the wrapping paper. It's not so necessary. A gift can be already good enough without any wrapping.

ha ha ha ha ha... waste of paper or lazy to wrap? Actually it depends on occassion. Most of the time I will wrap the gift. It goes towards your effort to make the gift a nice one for the person receiving it.

The gifts that my partner and I give are done in a variety of ways. My partner actually makes some of the girs boxes herself, or at least covers them to make them more personal. When the grandchildren visit us, we give them some oaints and white butcher's paper to do some painting. My partner helps the grandchildren as they are still young and later on we use some if the grandchildren's craft work to wrap up some of the gifts we give tp family and friends. On the whole I tend to agree that wrapping paper can waste money but we only ever purchase any when it is on special and cheap. We do "cover" the gifts we give and use a variety of ways to do that, taking into consideration what the recipient will like. My partner also considers the recipient, i.e. one friendsimply rips the paper off and throws it into the bin. That person's present will probably be wrapped in paper that we have recycled in the past. Today my partner actually showed me some of the things she has made to wrap up the presents we give this year. Our sister-in-law gave my partner some towel material remnants some months ago and as my partner is a great seamstress she decided to see what she could do with this material. Well I can tell you that she has made individual hand towels and face washers, then did some fancy embroidery on them and they will form part of the gifts we give this Christmas. In fact those family members or friends who receive one of these sets for Christmas will have to "unwrap" it go get the rest of their present. It sort of an extra present which has basically cost nothing at all, except for the cotton and time my partner took to make them of course. Our sister-in-law got 3 different colours of these remnants which were in a "throw out" bin at the princely sum of 3 for $1-00. My partner was able to make 6 sets plus a few extra face washers. Now that costs a lot less than wrapping paper and 6 people will get an extra present as a result. So sometimes it can be well worth "wrapping" a present you give. lol

Supposing I have gifts or presents to wrap, it has become my habit to wrap them before finally handing them to the recipients. But ever since I got married and upon my spouse's advice, I would skip the wrapping portion of gifts to be given to my in-laws. I recall I was even hesitant to hand it over to one of them because it wasn't wrapped. But I soon realized that it's not supposed to be a big thing or to make a fuss over wrapping the presents. And owing to this experience, I soon decided to choose which gifts are to be wrapped or which ones may still be appreciated without any fancy wrapper. But sad to say, it's been a couple of years now that I haven't engage myself in any wrapping of presents mainly because I didn't buy any gift either for myself or for my loved ones. Cashflows for our family is so tight at this moment, and this is even made more difficult with the company's plan of dissolution. I've been with this firm for more than four years now and I'm afraid that by the end of first quarter next year, I would soon be displaced from work.

You're absolutely right about this! In fact, the economy is so much in a crisis that we still haven't received our monetary Christmas bonus from the company until now, which makes a lot of my co-employees irritable and quite lazy to work.

I often don't wrap the gifts when I give a gift, but that desides who I will send to:If I give a friend a gift, and if he is a person who love romantic then I will wrap the gift,so he can guess, and it is interesting; If he is a pragmatic person, then I won't wrap the gift, and it waste of paper.

I rather like giving my gifts in a pretty bag as then the bag can be used by the person to give to someone else and whe you think about that bag could end up going arouns for years, much better than using paper that wull just be ripped off..

We always wrap our gifts my friend, always, don't you love seeing a beautifully wrapped parcel under the tree ready for you on Christmas morning to be opened? That is the main enjoyment unwrapping presents and wondering what's inside, although sometimes it can be a disappointment when you open up the present and you are not too happy with it! Gifts at Christmas are much better wrapped, it's only once a year after all.

I seldom wrap the gift too. The reason is simply because I am lazy to do that. I do not have the patience and the skill to wrap it nicely too. Therefore, it's better not to wrap it. So, most of the time, when there is an occasion where we need to give away a gift, I will join with others. So, somebody especially the girls will wrap the gift. In such way, I no longer need to worry about wrapping it.

Haha, ya, I am just too frank sometimes! But when talking about wrapping gifts, I will try my best to avoid it. I remember when I want to give a gift to my ex, I paid for the gift shop keeper to help me wrap it.

I think buying wrapping paper is also not necessary and nowadays wrappers are not cheap either. If I wanted to give someone a gift and I want it to somehow have an element of surprise, I usually put it in a box or paper bag, but not the ones that you still have to buy in the bookstore. I just put in inside any paper bag that I have at home, the ones we get when we buy something from a store. The point there anyway is so that the person I am giving it to will not see the item immediately. Before we even considered using newspapers or magazines to wrap the gifts but then, it gets kinda dirty because the inks of the prints gets transferred to our hands or clothes.

in the past, for me, wrapping a gift with wrapping paper is a must! it doesnt seem proper if a gift/present is not wrapped. but nowadays, types of gifts/presents have changed - still if i dont wrap them in wrapping paper, i would put in a gift box, or put in nice gift-bag (paperbag).. and if it is something like cash vouchers or cash.. i would put in a nice envelope.. in short.. the gift/present will remain 'hidden' - only for the reciepient to see and enjoy.. but if the reciepient decides to open the gift and show it to all, that it is their choice..

I enjoy wrapping gifts. I don't know why. Maybe because of the colorful wrappers and I can be creative in wrapping different sizes and shapes of items. I just use paperbags when I'm in a rush or I feel lazy wrapping the gift.=)

I think wrapper is used just to hide the gift. And that is to surprise the receiver. In most cases, I just use a paper bag to cover the gift. If I use a wrapper, it will just be torn when the gift is being opened and not be usable anymore. If I use a paper bag, it can still be used later on when the gift is opened already.

I used to take time to wrap the gifts. But now no more. I will collect nice nice shopping paper bags in various sizes and keep it. And when its time to give gifts especially during Christmas or birthdays, I would just put the gift inside the nice shooping bag. Saves time and money!!

I also think its a waste of paper, what my mom does is use gift bags. It's like carpooling for gifts! I think recycled paper would suffice as well, but i have not looked for such a thing yet. Big gifts if they are in a plain card board box can just have paper covering the name of the gift. My mom did this when she bought me a guitar. Or really big gifts can just have a plain and simple bow! I think my mom also uses cellophane as an alternative since she usually has a lot of presents to give out. But it's usually dark cellophane. There's lots of sufficient alternatives we can use to be more earth friendly! =]
