First off it is the intelligence system and the police which is smacked of unusual indolence to be blamed. The RAW had actually intercepted the telephonic conversation between the terrorists and given warnings too.But the law enforcers took it for granted and did nothing to take precautions to stop a possible attack.Eventhough India is the 7th largest country in the world which has a land frontier of 15200km and a mainland costline of 6100 kms.Do you think it easy to safeguard such a colossal land area. Moreover what makes us unique with respect to other vast countries is the enormous diversity with regard to language, ethnicity, religion, cast, creed, attire etc. which makes the cordination difficult. The resignation of one or two ministers is not the answer and it was unnecessary. No one has ever resigned in any country after a terrorist strike. The US state secretary did not resignafter the 9/11 incident. The russian president or the Interior security minister did not resign after Chechen rebels killed about 200 children. The British PM or any of his cabinet members did not step down after the 7/7 attack.Sivaraj Patil should not be made a scape goat and the entire blame shall not be put on the shoulders of him except in one aspect I disagree with him the flak he drew when he changed his clothes three times at a time when the whole country was ridden with the shock of a terror strike. The main opposition BJP is clamouring for tough laws insinuating to the implementation of the insidious POTA.But for the word "prevention" in the statute the draconian law will not prevent terrorist attack. It is like taking pledge against AIDS as though those who take pledge will not be infected irrespective of the life they lead. Our parliament came under attack when the so called ardent champions and protectors of Hidutva were in power and to add much to the irony the POTA too was in force. After the 9/11 attacks America invested millions in bolstering the intelligence and security system whereas India invested only peanuts. It is true that 2008 has seen an increasing spate of terrorist attack. But why it was not so 10 years back. The answer is simple:The number of terror groups were lesser or their infrastructure to effect an active attack was bleak.Or the media coverage was not developed as it is now.Whatever it may be this is not the appropriate time to attack the goverment instead we need to stand behind it and solemnly affirm our solidarity to the unity of India.Above all our intelligence system need a thorough revamp and security modernised. Thanks for this post.

I don't understand this either, what has India done or is it just an attack on the westerners in that country, I wish all this would stop, it is all senseless, when is all this going to end...

whats incomprehendable..is that they asked for ppl with American and British passports...and most of the hostages in the taj and oberoi right now r isrealies...how does that make send...the deccan mujahidin hydrabad says they r responsible...but at the same time one of the terrorists who were caught alive was frm pakistan...plus they were communicating in 'punjabi'..these terrorists have planned this attack very very well..coz they have made sure that they confuse us...so that it gives them time to execute more action...for all u knw they might be in a train heading down to blore right now..:((

Terrorism will never be gone from this world, not when there are some fanatics who get easily corrupted by other fanatics. Let's just hope the governments and people of the world will work together and minimize the impact and damage caused by these irresponsible terrorists.

but then again there should be a major motive right...what is it that they want...and y r all fingers pointed to islam?..no religion preaches violence for one...the fact that these terrorists have kept ppl hostage in all the three places kinda suggests that they have a so called "demand"...dont u think..??
