Slow Internet and no offline work--what do I do?

India

Most of my interests are now online. Even to create "offline" work, I have to get online. The Internet is slow; it always is. But right now, it is so miserably slow that the pages are just not loading! What would you do if your Internet is slow and you have no work to do offline? Would you take a nap? Would you get mad? Would you rant, rave, and curse? Call up your ISP and tell them exactly what you think of them? Ideas...I need ideas, my friends!! :) Cheers and happy mylotting

I think is cold be frustrating because then you might think that damn i don't have anything to do offline and maybe there are some interesting discussions being posted on mylot and here i am stuck with the slow connection, it happen to me most of the time and it really makes me mad, but this thing happens mostly during the day because then most of the businesses are open and utilize the network But overall it makes me mad especially when i don't have anything to do and wanted to respond to some discussions other people started here

Go clean the house, cook a meal, if you're at work organize your files, and if all else fails read a book. I know what you mean about the Internet being slow, it was so bad yesterday that I didn't even try after 7:00AM. Hang in there

Since yesterday I noticed that there is something wrong with the internet. The page are so slow in loading and I cannot work normally. I cannot answer as many post as I can because of the said problem.Usually, if that is the case, I would rather turn off my computer and do other things. Sometimes I watch tv, listen to the radio or read a book.Because of that, I forgot my state of being upset of the internet problems.I do not want to too much frown just because my internet is not working properly. I know frowning will not help. I just think of something to do in which it can make me happy despite of my frustrations.

Hello! I believe that, when your Internet is slow and you have nothing else to do, you should start finding another hobby. I don't know where you are and what can you do from there, but if you are in front of the computer you can still write texts, play Patience or any other card games... And when your Internet is fast again, you will be able to download new games to play. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

It is like that for me these days. I also need to get online to do some research but the internet can be quite slow. So I would try to draft outline when that happens and when I get really frustrated, I'd take a nap and see if the internet would be faster at night or the next morning. Can't do much without the internet. Sometimes I get an inspiration to write an article. I get a lot of ideas from mylot forum. maybe I should write about this. haha! Will let you check out my article if it gets published. Cheers!

well of course I would be upset if i want to do something and the connection is very slow. But it doesn't help if we will be mad or rant. What my hubby usually do when the connection s really slow is to call the provider. There was one time that they come to the house and put another device to help it keep going faster but same thing happen sometimes. It's not everyday though but there are times. Anyway, I just log off and be right back in few hours and they are fine.

I feel like going crazy when that situation happens. Imagine how I'd like to do myLot or Ciao or do any thing online then there is no internet or there is so much cyber traffic. I hate that really my dear but because it is already beyond my control instead of really going crazy I just do other works like reading or anything worth doing. Most of the time if that problem occurs on Saturdays I go shopping to beat the boredom. It seems the internet has really become part of my life and its absence really makes a great deal. I believe this is not only true to me but to a lot of us here.

Call them up and scold them. That's what I do but I must tell you, it's normally useless. LOL. That's why I always save up all my work and upload all of them together when I'm in the office. My office is using corporate line.

When my internet isn't working I kind of just feel kind of happy, because now I have a reason to go out and catch up on my reading, or to write in my journal, finish homework, with no distractions. Usually when my internet is actually working, I sit on the computer and think, "Okay just a couple of minutes then I'll start on my homework" but a couple of minutes turns into an hour and for me I've lost a lot of time. I could have finished so many books and so many articles.. I believe(: Sometimes I even ditch my friends for the computer:] but let's not get into that.

i'd get frustrated.. you know, i can't let the day pass without getting online.. internet's been part of my life.. most of my work requires an internet connection.. but you know what, if you have a 3g mobile phone, you can use it as a modem to connect to the internet.. i used to utilize my phone's 3G feature and it helped me connect to the world wide web when i still don't have my broadband yet..

I'm online a lot, but my Internet is slow most of the time because our Internet provider is the worst one ever. I have other things to do offline though, like schoolworking, reading a book or playing piano, so I don't get too frustrated (only if I was working on a project and my Internet went horribly slow). If it's just for fun, I know I can come back later and catch up on what I missed. =P Sometimes when the Internet cuts off I think it's good because then I can do something in real-life for sure. I would suggest you find something to do offline too, it doesn't have to be major. =P It can be as simple as picking up a book and reading it while your connection is out. The Internet isn't everything. ^_^
