The famous Silent Night was written in 1818 by Austrian priest, Joseph Mohr. He was told on Christmas Eve that the church organ was broken and would not be fixed in time for the evening’s celebration. He was saddened by this and could not think of Christmas without music. So he wanted to write a carol that the choir could sing to guitar music. He sat down and wrote three stanzas. Later that night the people in the little Austrian Church sang Stille Nacht for the first time.

ha ha ha ha ha... I am sure you are not the first one to make that mistake as well. Well, I remember silent night from the little christmas clip from Disney a long long time ago. The one where Mickey and gang were doing carols on christmas. And Scrooge Mcduck is the Scrooge in the famous christmas story about the three ghosts of christmas. Very nice cartoon to watch.

ha ha ha ha ha... I think the title of the story is call "Christmas Carol" The three ghosts are the Christmas ghost of the past, the Christmas ghost of the present and the Christmas ghost of the future. Very entertaining. Used to see it every christmas when I was a kid. Now, I rarely see the disney version being screened. It would be nice to watch it again.

ha ha ha ha ha... neither did I know the history of this song till I found this. So I figured, if I didn't know, there would be others that don't as well. So I posted it here to share with all. Interesting what we do not really know, isn't it?

Silent Night is beautiful, I always love to hear it. But I didn't know that part. I guess I can close my eyes and see how it would sound beautiful with instrumentals only. You're on a roll today, lots of interesting trivia to digest :):)

Now gotta get my idea box filled again before I can go ahead with more new discussions. Replying to other people's discussion is keeping me plenty busy!
