We have always heard that the customer is always right. We have also enjoyed being customers because of that rule. However, there are also sales ladies, sales men, sales clerks, sales agents, and the like, who exists because of "customers". As a rule, i am patient with them. I listen to what they have to say and respect the fact that they are only doing their job. However, there are times that I get impatient with them. I do not know if it is because of how they approach me as a customer or just because of my mood. How about you? How do you treat them? How do you deal with them? Are you patient with them?

Sometimes they irritate me if I'm not looking to buy and they keep asking what I want, but I understand that it's part of their job. I just smile and say, "No thank you." Sometimes it helps to get pleasant treatment if you are pleasant towards them as well.

I always strive to treat people as I would like to be treated. As for sales people, I perceive too often that they are spoken down to by many customers. Many feel that sales staff are beneath them...especially in large companies, sales people are more often than not treated disrespectfully by management so it's a given that customers will do the same because they can pull the ole "customer is always right" stunt and get away with their bad behaviour.

Thanks so much for BR. I feel really strongly on this subject. I know some assistants can be rude but they shouldn't be in that sort of work to start with.

Usually I am because I work also in the customer service industry and I understand how hard it is to please everybody. However, what pisses me off is when these salespeople does not know ANYTHING about what they are selling or are plain rude. When they are rude to me, I put my foot forward.

I hate salesmen. They come to your door, just introduce themselves, start shooting questions about what you use and try to market their goods. They are not least concerned what you are doing there, before they are in your doors. You have just come out to see,who is there and they start their own business.More often, they dont have something with good quality certificates for their products.Once sold, you cant get them for any defaults arising. So,why go in for a salesmen while you have the freedom to go shopping gor your genuine needs?
