hello,u know, smoking interfers the absorption of many vitamins, especially vitamin C.Folic acid supplements should be necessary for all smokers.Daily recommended vitamin C allowance is 75mg (women) 95mg(men), smokers need an additional 35mg. I think instead of taking supplements, most smokers should have their diets rich in fresh citrus fruits and leafy vegetables.

I take at least 1000mg of Vitamin C daily. More than that will not do a great deal of harm but can cause diarrhoea symptoms.
I'm a smoker (I regret to say) so I'm aware that I need more than usual. I'm also aware that just 'taking the tablets' isn't enough. Fresh fruit and vegetables have many more essential nutrients and antioxidants besides just ascorbic acid!
