that's disgusting. not only should you brush your teeth daily, but TWICE daily AT LEAST. I brush about 3 or 4 times each day. and not only that, you need to floss in order to remove bacteria from below the gumline. if you floss just once, then smell the floss, then try telling me you're happy not removing something that smells so horrible at least once a day. I really can't understand how anyone can bear not to look after their teeth. your teeth will rot, fall out, smell bad, look bad, and no one will want to be anywhere near you because you stink if you don't look after them properly.

and you can tell him, I used to be a dental nurse. I know about dental hygiene, and I've seen (and smelt) what happens when people don't look after their teeth.

I brush at least once a day, although I should do it twice a day. I'm currently receiving my final treatments for Periodontal Disease and my dentist tells me that I should brush and floss twice a day. He stressed that I should definitely be flossing after brushing to remove plaque from below the gum line. After all I've gone through with the Periodontal treatments, I'll be listening to every word my dentist says to avoid going through it again!

I brush my teeth at least twice a day; for sure after breakfast and then before going to bed. A lot of people brush when they first wake up, but I like tasting my breakfast, so I make sure to eat first, then actually brush my teeth after that meal. But definitely twice a day; it wasn't always like that and I didn't take care of my teeth that well growing up, but I learned that it was going to be very important for me to do so moving on and I have done so really since.

This is absolutely disgusting. I cannot stand people who don't brush their teeth. Not only can you see it happening you can actually smell it. It is horrible and very disgusting. I can say I am one who takes pride in my teeth and am bruching about 4-5 times a day. I love toothpaste, brushing and flossing. Your friend is gonna be sorry down the road when he has to get them all pulled and get dentures. He will see how much fun those are and will be regretting not taking care of his teeth.

i think minimum, everyone should brush their teeth at least twice a day. for me i brush in the morning, and just before i go to bed. if you want, you could brush after every meal, which means an average of 3 times a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner). however, don't overbrush because it can cause your teeth to be sensitive (you know, when you drink cold drinks your teeth hurts?)

EWWWW! That is gross, sorry. Yes, I am sure he will learn to regret it. I usually brush at least twice a day & floss once a day. Sometimes I do forget and only brush once a day & floss once a day. Sometimes I will brush more (3 to 4 times a day). It is better to do that because the teeth need to be healthy. There are some studies that are showing that good oral hygiene can lower risk for heart disease. I also use pre-dental rinse, brush 2 times I brush, use Listerine & I will use floride rinse once a day. I'm pretty fanatical about my oral health. Thank you for your discussion. Pablo

Why would someone only brush their teeth 4 or 5 times a weeks? I can't understand that. Better question, how can someone sleep at night without brushing their teeth before bed? Oooo. I brush about three times a day.... never less than twice.

Hello! Yes, I do brush my teeth daily. It is a common habit here in Brazil to brush your teeth daily, but there are people who does not follow the "rules". People who will only brush their teeth once a week, or something like that. Usually they are not well accepted by society, and a lot of prejudice will happen against them. But for those who brush their teeth normally, all good. Usually, we do not brush our teeth only once per day. There are people who will brush it twice, three times (me) or even four times a day. Yes, I know that if four times a day may be too much, but there are people who do it. Respectfully, Munhozmib.

Tooth brush - Denticed recomend that we brush our after meals.
I brush my teeth twice a day and I use mouth rinse too, I like having a clean teeth and fresh breath and also its a good idea to brush our teeth because the plaque in our mouths contributes to heart illness I was watching a medical TV show on PBS and its a fact that plaque in our mouths is bad for our hearts.

I usually brush everytime I eat....that's pretty gross about your friend...I used to know a girl allergic to fluoride. Her teeth looked gross to because she wouldn't brush. She said her mouth would have blisters if she did...I said just brush with water or something don't just let your mouth go like that. I don't guess she ever did but I bet she has no teeth now.

you should leave it about an hour after eating to brush. immediately after eating you have higher levels of acid in the mouth, and brushing then is too abrasive to the tooth enamel, as you're basically scrubbing your teeth with acid

I brush mine at least twice a day and thats the lowest anyone should go. You need to brush your teeth to keep them clean and white and healthy, get rid of the plaque and gingivitis and take care of the cavities. You should advise your friend of this if he does not already know. Make him brush more! Besides ladies like clean white teeth:)

Well first of all hello. Yes I do brush my teeth three times a day. Brushing your teeth is very importand. I know a friend of my aunt that had a toothache and when she went to the dentist, the dentist told her that she must take out immediately, because there was a microbe on her tooth that goes too her heart and she would get killed. So she immediately took it out, and from then on she was carring about her teeth more than ever.

see that doesn't make a lot of sense. yes, if you have had valves replaced in your heart, or any damage to those valves, then the bacteria that live below the gumline can be harmful, if they get into the bloodstream following cleaning OR an extraction. people at high risk of this complication would be given antibiotics before the treatment. so taking the tooth out would not remove that risk. the tooth comes out when it can't be saved, not when someone has bacteria below the gumline, as we all have that. just certain treatments introduce that bacteria into the bloodstream. mainly scaling and extractions.

In my opinion, twice a day is ideal! Not overbrush cause it can cause to the enamel to become sensitive. Not brushing at all, that's tricky! After a while, lots of deposits are breaking, causing also the breaking of the tooth itself. Than, the repairs are expensive and heartful. Better prevent than repair!
