Why is everything made for tall people?

I recently moved to this great new place and I'm very happy over all but I cant see through the peak hole in my door and I cant reach my sealing fan switches and some of the cabinet's are to high for me to reach, ok I know this might seem silly but thats probably because your tall and dont have this problem,
but I'm short I'm 5 feet and 1 inch tall, and its just not fair for everything to be made for tall folks because whenever someone knocks at the door I cant look through my peak hole to see who's at my door, and I cant use some of the cabinet space I have. dont get me wrong I'm perfectly happy being short and cute hehe but I'm just saying they should make more things in the world for shorter people because everyone isn't tall. dose anyone else feel this way and why do you think they make so many things for taller people?

Hi there apples99
At 5'2" I too am vertically challenged!! LOL. Not many people in the UK have peak holes in their doors (though I so wished I did have) but I remember when I was out in the US that I too had this very problem as well I have problems reaching the top shelf of the cupboard in my kitchen now. Even the other day, I bought a pair of jeans in my size and size short. I didn't bother to try them on because you would thing they would fit as short normally means a 28" leg. Nope they were still too long and I have to roll them up at the bottom when it is raining so they don't soak up the water in the street!!! LOL

Hi there humbug25, your just an inch taller then me hehe, well anyway its nice to have a peep whole in the door becuse it helps me to stay safe you can see who's at the door before you answer it, but unfortunately I cant use mine because of my height
and Iv also had the same problem with buying cloths too when I buy any type of paints there always to long and I end up having to roll the bottom up LOL too.

I can definitely relate! I am the exact same height as you! If I need a glass from the cupboard, I have to ask someone else to reach it for me! It is pretty embarrassing! I've fallen off of chairs before trying to reach stuff, so now I try to avoid climbing up on them whenever possible! But yes, I've also been in several places where I couldn't see out the peephole. And shopping can be frustrating, because I can't always see items that are on the top shelf... let alone reach them!

Yes I often have ask others to reach things for me or I have to use a foot stool or think of other innovative ways of reaching things, goodness it seems like things would be made more short person friendly these days, they should add a lower peak whole at the bottom of the tall one, and make a longer switch for the sealing fans and make adjustable cabinets and they should also make a wider verity of clothing sizes for shorty's like us.

I have the opposite problem. I'm 6' 4" and I have problems with work surfaces being to low for me, forcing me to stoop all the time, (not good for my back) some doors are also to low for me so that I always have to be on the look out for low doors and other hazards that you'd not even notice. So it's not all benefite being tall
