It takes me about 8 hours to fully reinstall my OS and software with updates. I'd like to be able to take all that info and either store it on my hard drive or a DVD so the next time I need to do a reinstall it will only take me 20 minutes or so and can be done on bootup. It's sort of like creating my own "Back to Factory Specs" partition or DVD like Dell, HP Compac, and others employ. It's a destructive recovery and I don't want it to worry about my personal data. It only needs to work on my PC - not other models. What software can I use for this and will it allow me the option to initate a "recovery" on system startup? Sourcing to the hard drive hidden (diferent partition) is my first choice and sourcing onto DVD is my second. Is there software that will allow me to do this? HP Pavilion zv5260us, WinXP Pro SP2, all updates, 1GB RAM,

Ya the software is available. The name is "Norton Ghost". Try searcging Hiren's boot disk in internet. It will definetely do whatever you asked here. It just takes maximum 30 mins to reinstall the os with the installed programs. It may be any os. But the important thing is, the partition shaould not be changed. It backup your partition in about 30 mins.(It is less than 5 minutes if only Win xp is backedup and exactly 2 mins to reinstall. Try it

you can also try Acronis for backuping and restoring you partition drive, files and copy your drive to another drive.. i am using Acronis for two years now if my pc crashes i don't have to format it or install everything... I have a back up of my Windows Drive on another partition which is my Storage Drive... and i already also use Norton Ghost but sometimes it doesn't work at Sata Disk... But first you must have a Acronis Bootable Disk or have Acronis installed on your PC
