I don't think they were supposed to be seen. As Peanuts is a story about Charlie Brown and his child friends the adults are really unimportant in the scheme of the story lines. Kind of a childhood philosophy...

I get the feeling that the adults probably would have looked like larger versions of the Peanuts gang. From childhood to adult hood, the human form does undergo changes - for me, most notably on women, the chest area. Another thing is that clothing also changes. A small adult either has his clothing specially made, or he ends up wearing children's clothing. I cannot really describe the specific differences, but people can tell the difference, somehow. I conclude that the reason that there were no adults because drawing them might have been too complicated for him. Uh - the boobs on Charlie Brown's mother & on Ms Othmar are too low ... Nope, that's too high ... Uh - lower them just a little bit ... Still not right ... Oops, they're not shaped right ... Oops, they look too lopsided ... I give up, & just sticking to only the children.

I don't know what they look like but I think I know why they talk the way they do. I think that Charles Schultz didn't want the adults to invade the perfect little world that he had built for the children in his script. It is such a kid centered strip that adults are totally unnecessary except to know that they have a rather irritating way of interrupting the fun the kids are having. Just my thoughts.
