If you're still not a blogger , then start creating your blog. Blogging has many beneficial effects. It could serve as a de-stressor as you can pour out your sentiments on your posts, as long as they're not derogatory and foul in language. You can also sell your wares online. You can share your pictures and videos. It is also a learning experience. You can visit other people's blogs and read on different topics. When you acquire your page rank, you can write reviews and get paid, or display ads for a fee. Or write your novel for everyone to read. There are countless benefits for a blogger. Today a friend of mine-Krishna had joined me in the blogging world. Let us all welcome him. http://krishnamusing.blogspot.com. I would appreciate it a lot if you could leave a message in his blog to welcome and encourage him. Thanks.

Hi Jenaisle. You are right, blogging is a de-stressor. I have been away for a while, concentrating on my blogs. I have been pouring out sentiments, lots of it, lately. And boy, am i starting to have followers despite the fact that mine are just some sort of personal musings. I manage three blogs but only one i maintain on an almost daily basis- pinkytabor.blogspot.com. You may want to check it out. I will also welcome the new blogger you mentioned and will be checking out your blog again.

Blogging is not only effective but very powerful weapon of communication. And blogosphere comprises of people belonging to myriads of schools of thoughts. I think it is very much addictive, and it opens up the avenues for you to reach out people. Or, simply you can share your stories - your day-to-day happenings before a very loyal audience. Also, I believe blogging is a live journal - particularly those focusing at sociological or political events. So far as I am concerned I really do not go through newspaper that much; but I learn about the world - happenings in different countries - their very individual socio-cultural norms and rituals - their political turmoils - and music by visiting blogs of people belonging to that country! And it gives me much pleasure. I know how one Mize of Portugal had a dream of building her own country home - and how she accomplished her dream! There are actually many more stories that I have read in different blogs. I know how my fellow blogger of NYC spends joyful moments with her pet cat, and I know the quality of life in a Southern Farm - and all these by visiting respective blogs. Blogging establishes, unlike other communication channel - and very much like FM Channels in Radio Stations - a one-to-one interaction as well as one-to-many interaction. A community develops encircling the blogger where the blogger addresses a group of target audience (one-to-many) and the audience responds to the blogger direct (one-to-one) in the form of posting blog comments. Here the person sitting at the center is the King or Queen of his/her small kingdom! And this realization helps him/her to develop a self-confidence and commitment. There is a time in a day in the life of any sincere blogger when he/she is to take the center stage - and this is the additional boost - which you might have attributed as de-stressing. Those who blog seriously take their time - while at work, or during a break - or may be while watching a TV show - to prepare draft - what to communicate the next day, and what might be the reaction. This is very engaging and may also help to de-stress. What you have focused in your discussion is the commercial aspects of the blog but a blog can only become commercially successful if it adheres to basic blogging philosophy. This is what I have understood about blogging!Cheers.

hi Jenaisle!! I've read some of your articles in Helium and some of your discussions here in mylot... I'm also interested in writing as it is also my hobby and right now, I have just started trying out on some sites like Triond and hubpages..though I'm also considering joining Helium too.. I do want to make writing not just a hobby but also a way for me to share my self to the world and be recognized.. Though I'm a homemaker does not mean I only have to contain myself to doing household stuffs and what other homemakers are supposed to do. I also want to be productive on my own and with writing, I could also earn some extra income aside from enjoying what I do. I hope I could be added to your friend's list in Helium as soon as I join the site.. By the way, I've just joined blogspot, here's my blog address. http://www.amarosh.blogspot.com You're suggestions and ideas on how I could improve myself better as a blogger would be very much welcome.. tc Happy mylotting!

Hi amrjosh, welcome to the interesting world of writing. Yes, you can maximize your talent by joining these sites. You could join entrecard.com to attract more blog visitors. This would increase your rank and eventually you could join the paid per post writers. It took me 5 months to do so. I had first to increase traffic to my blog. Good luck.

hi Jenaisle, Blogging has really been a great learning experience for me. I also find it better than community sites as blog lets me be in touch with professional contacts as well. I have reastablished contacts with many of my long lost friends & relatives through my blog. Currently i am redoing my blog using CSS.( so that it is more SEO friendly). I will surely encourage krikhnam by posting comments in the blog.
