Is anyone's favorite genre of rock, classic rock?

For those of you who's favorite type of rock is the classics, why is this so? And who is your favorite band or artist? Please share their unique and general qualities! I always like to discover songs I have never heard from the era of what is known as classic rock. Mine happens to be The Doors. The band includes Jim Morrison on lead vocals, Ray Manzarek on Organ (sometimes background vocals), John Densmore on Drums, and Robby Krieger on guitar. They were unique for so many reasons! First thing that had to be noticed was that the band had no bass guitar player! Most of the lack of bass sound was picked up by Manzarek on the organ, since his lower keyboard was a Fender Bass Keyboard, so awesome! Densmore's drumming was subtle and always fit each song whether it be blues or psychelic. Krieger's screaming guitar had so many different sounds ranging from flamenco style picking to blues. And Morrison's low baritone and smooth tantalizing voice was the finisher. Everyone loved him for his godliness and sheer eccentricity. I wish i was around that time period to watch one of their shows! Of course we all know that during that era drugs were sometimes used to enhance the experience, but what can I say really to that? It's just what was part of the experience. So please share your favorite artist or a couple if you can't decide on just one awesome sound=] A couple other of my favs are Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles. But that's not to say I don't also enjoy other genres of music, just that this particular one leaves em all behind in my mind. ♥
