Have you ever done something really silly that got you hurt?

I managed to burn myself. I was reaching into the cupboard to do something and did not realise how close the just boiled kettle was until my bare tummy touched it. Ouch!!! I put ice on it to try and stop the burn from going to deep but now it is blistering. Damn I am cross with myself for being so careless. Have you ever done something silly that caused you pain and suffering?

Oh sheesh, I do things like that from time to time. Just yesterday I went to pull biscuits out of the oven and grabbed the pan without a pot holder. Well, I did have a pot holder on one side, but it is a cast iron skillet that has 2 handles on it. I grabbed the long handle with the pot holder, it was heavier than I thought and I just grabbed the short handle with my bare hand without thinking. I immediately ran my hand under cold water. My hand didn't blister, but is sure is sore today. Hope your tummy doesn't blister too badly.

Ouch that would really hurt. Your pour hand. I hope it is all right. I know what that feels like. It will probably be sore for a couple of days. I think my tummy blistered because the skin is not very tough and the kettle was metal and was at boiling point. The blisters are not too bad and look as though they will heal without getting any worse. I think putting ice on the burn helped as it stopped the burn from going deeper.

I am sure the ice helped. I just can't imagine burning my tummy. That has got to be painful, not to mention a little inconvenient, at times. I do hope it heals quickly.*S*

Yes it was awkward and embarrassing for doing something so silly. Oh well it is starting to heal up. I saw a tv program that said cold water but I could not see how to run cold water on that spot so an ice cube seemed to be the way to go. They said that burns can go on burning while the heat remains and you have to try and stop it as fast as possible so it does not go too deep.

Back in my cooking days I once lived in the hotel I was cooking at, and one of the silliest things I ever did was to go out with my bosses to the nearby Italian Club and drink till the early hours, then go back to the hotel and decide to make myself a snack. I was as drunk as a skunk, and should not have been within ten miles of a chef's razor sharp knife. I'll leave the rest to your imagination, not too serious but a nuisance, and my bosses banned me from the kitchen after hours when they found out what I'd done. Lash

Oh that is scary. You are lucky you did not cut your fingers off. Oooh the thought of all the blood is awful. I know how sharp those knives are kept and they are definitely dangerous in the wrong hands but when drunk, no way.

Yes I have. When I was about 11 we had a fish tank with a fairly good size piranha living in it. Well the filter wasn't working right and without thinking I stuck my hand in to fix it and he jumped up and bit me. It did take 15 stitches to fix the hole he/she bit into my hand. Now I'll tell you the "silly" things my children have done to hurt themselves LOL My oldest when he was 11 wanted to make hot chocolate so I told him to put some water in the mircowave to heat the water. He reached in and grabbed the mug and burned himself, he looked at me and said "I didn't know it would be hot". My middle one, he was about 7 put his lips on the the crock pot to see if the outside was hot. Needless to say he burned his lips pretty bad.

Ouch that is learning the hard way. As for the piranha I have always thought of them as man eaters I suppose you were just lucky there was only one. But 15 stitches is a big hole and that was just one so a whole school of them would be deadly. Ooooh scary.
