My tree is trashed!

Well I got home from work last evening, after a miserable sleet filled drive, walked in turned to the living room to say hi to my husband, and saw the tree, tilted drunkenly, garland that looked so good when I left hanging very strangely, a pile of antique glass balls on the coffee table and boxes piled in the corner, not under the tree. My husband had gotten concerned with the weather and was walking to the front window to see how bad it was getting, tripped and fell into the tree. Thankfully he was virtually unhurt, just a small cut from one of the ornaments. So today I have to dismantle it and get a new one. Have you ever had to decorate a second tree because of an accident or problem? Do broken ornaments upset you? Kind of did, due to the fact that most of my ornaments came from my grandparents and are better than 50 years old, they just don't make them like they used to and most of the new ones are just plain tacky. What's the worst Christmas disaster you've had to deal with? Was it your tree, your Christmas party, or your relatives?

I have never had a major incident with a tree. I am glad to hear that your husband was not seriously injured, but sorry to hear that you have to start over on the tree.

The upside was it gave me a chance to go through the gifts I already bought to see what I still have to get! Silver lining!

I am so sorry to hear that this happened to you. I am glad to hear that your hubby is okay though. I personally have never had to redo a Christmas tree or anything because of an accident, but a friend of mine had to do a redo because while she was gone for the weekend visiting some friends around Christmas her cat trashed her tree! We have never had an indoor cat so I haven't had to face that one. I think that would actually be worse because I'd be worried the cat had eaten tinsel or something.

I can understand that ... tinsel can cause quite a bit of harm to a little cat or kitten! It was a good thing my friend didn't have any tinsel on her tree, but she did have quite a few breakable ornaments that got broken. Was a good thing that the cat didn't get cut either as she was gone for about 3 days and is unsure of when exactly the tree got trashed!
